Good advice to remember the next time you're tempted to take Blightsteel Colossus up on that backrub.

Ingot Chewer has a lower evoke cost, not to mention the creature option. Though I guess making this a Nature's Claim without the drawback would've rendered Liquimetal Coating decks much too good.

I can't see a red draft deck in which I'm not running this guy. He'll ALWAYS have something to hit, and often something potentially game-changing. His best use may be whilst drafting, however. Getting this guy to table is a clear indicator that red is open.

He's crushing an artifact but it looks like a f*cking octopus.
Do they eat sushi on Mirrodin? I think they'd be relatively happy to have all the mercury ridden fish in California.
This might prove useful in Legacy. People play Ingot Chewer. (On the other hand, given that both are cast at sorcery speed, I'm not sure which is better.)
Hey if the other guy is running an artifact deck. Good for sideboard right. Cheap, it's an instant, gets the job done.
4/5 for sideboard 3.5/5 for constructed or limited.

Now completely outdone by Smelt. Same mana, same speed, no "noncreature" clause.

For its block this was a fairly okay card. Maybe against affinity or combo this is passable, but very narrow. I think it deserves maybe 2 stars simply because of its fast effect, but there's really not much left to say about this card other than it's about a mile north of terrible.
