Alpha & Beta disks are both more than $120, but this card won't drop those ones in price. xD Nonetheless, new art is amazing, but nothing beats old-school tentacles.

I hate when people compare new cards to their elder counterparts and act like the new ones came first.

Art looks great, much more apocalyptic than the original.

Lawlz, darksteel forge.
And it's not colorless magus of the disk, magus of the disk is a white nevvy's disk...
and the art's pretty cool, although the old one was more...interesting...ok, just plain weird.

I don't think this card's effect is repeatable because it says destroy all artifacts, etc. All includes itself. Great card. The original art will always be ingrained into my memory but this is really pretty.

Maybe this is what the disk looks like just before the crazy tentacles come out to mangle everything

redrapist, the maguses were creature reprents of old cards that came first, moat, arena, bazaar of baghdad, and memory jar, are just a few examples of the non-timeshifted (original) versions of the maguses.

I like the new art - it is closer to the concept of the Warlock's Wheel, on which the Disk was based.
This, plus Mycosynth Lattice, and Darkesteel forge= a complete board sweep for everybody but you...repeatable every turn. Watch your opponent cry.

I preferred the old art- it looked like some Lovecraftian horror was trying to force its way into our world through some ancient amulet. This just looks like an aztec sticky bomb or something. Sure, this quality is better, but I would have much rather preferred new art that resembled the old art. I mean, they did it with isochron scepter.

Replaces floppies, CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Ray. In fact, it straight up murders them.

Great non-color specific reset button for any deck. Invaluable in the EDH/Commander alternate format.

This is great! It's got to be fun to play it. Your opponents get scared to attack, lest you... BOOOM!!!!

What http404error means to say is that the card is named after Larry Niven (spelled backwards) who is highly regarded in the science-fiction community as one of the greatest current writers of apocalyptic SF.
Knowing that, I greatly prefer the old art for the reason allmighty_abacus stated. This one looks like a glorified vacuum cleaner; the old one looked like a genuine homage to the pulp sci-fi/horror genre. Not that this one's bad by any means, it's just not quite as flavorful.

New art sucks compared to the feel the old one had
RTFM. This came first.
