We all know Taunting Elf is just better. With an ability like that, you don't care about doing damage, you just want to get the rest of your creatures through unblocked. For four mana they should really put this thing's toughness out of Lightning Bolt range, at least then it could boast some kind of superiority over its cheaper elven predecessor. At the moment the best you can hope for is taking out an annoying weenie like Essence Warden.

Alas, with return to ravnica we get the strictly better Golgari Decoy. Same CMC, same body and lure effect, but also has scavenge to make him useful in the yard after you attack.
