Amazing on the early game, but an awful topdeck after some turns. Makes for some crazy first turn plays when concatenated with other ritual, and it's the card that makes black storm strategies viable.

On Dark Ritual, when I play it does it add the three swamps to my mana pool for good or just that turn. Im new to the game please help.

rickyozbun, adding mana is always just for that turn, because mana is emptied between phases. Lands are permanent, and you tap them to make mana. That's the difference.

Draw one = 3 Mana on turn 1 = Hypnotic Specter. Draw 2 = 5 Mana on turn 1 = Hypnotic Specter and a Black Knight = Awesome in the early game. Combined with the right X mana cards it's not bad in the late game either.

Eh I wouldn't say it's so bad late game, at least for Suicide Black. They can at least get a massive Nantuko Shade, or play Yawgmoth's Will and start chaining the mana to play everything you can from the grave.

I personally prefer Inkwell Leviathan / Empyrial Archangel / Sphinx of the Steel Wind / Godsire
Especially the archangel versus red rushdecks is a gamechanger! O.o

Great card, bad flavor. Should've been "Pay 2 life, add BBB to your mana pool" to make it more black and give a small attempt to balance this card.

personal favorite: turn one Swamp, Dark Ritual, Raven's Crime on yourself, discard Pathrazer of Ulamog, Exhume. second turn hit with Annihilator 3 = game. and you get to play Raven's Crime again, just for the sake of it.

Combos with Dark Ritual. If there's a way to play instances from your graveyard without exiling them Yawgmoth's Will-style, and make it cost less than three, then what he have here is a broken-ass combo.
Not that Dark Ritual isn't broken... I mean, I think it's the most broken common ever.

First turn, Swamp, x2 dark rituals, yawgmoth's will, play the x2 dark rituals again, demonic tutor grabbing dark ritual, play that ritual and cast it again, then cast the tutor again grabbing tendrils of agony, then cast it for a storm shot of 20 damage.
