(Card Rating: 3.5) This was the first card I ever opened in a pack of Magic cards. At first glance, the card seems rather unplayable because of the 0 offense. Don't let it fool you, this card can be nasty for an opponent playing red or against creatures without trample. In two-headed giant, this card's ability shines by being able to regenerate your partner's important creatures. You can block two attackers with two of your small goblins, but only lose one of your goblins. I use 2 Goblin Chirurgeons in my favorite casual multiplayer black/red deck to keep important goblins such as Wort, Boggart Auntie alive. I also use Knucklebone Witch, Boggart Shenanigans, and Goblin Sharpshooter to benefit from the goblins going to the graveyard. I EVEN used him once to regenerate an opponent's Child of Alara in a multiplayer game when it blocked a m@ssive creature of another opponent. Their plan was to destroy my goblin horde; however, they forgot about the infamous Chirurgeon! He equates to instant speed nuking when combined with Boggart Shenanigans and other goblins. Despite the 0 power this is a MUST-HAVE for goblin tribal decks. Red regeneration is really rare and now that Goblin King (and the newer Goblin lords) count as Goblins, these will let you sac one of your grunts to keep your pumpers on the battlefield.

Even in non-Goblin decks, enough creatures have the Goblin type to make this viable...at worst it sacrifices itself to regen something once, and until then can serve as a blocker (2 toughness!).

I stumbled upon this guy in a friend's old box of cards and fell in love! I put this in my goblin low-cost bombardment deck.
This guy+Raid Bombardment is great! The best part is, if you are playing against a cheating green deck with something like Elvish Piper, before they tap the piper to play Emrakul you sac a goblin, and regenerate her. So unless they have an untap, she stays locked down. Not to mention if you are playing with the cornerstone creatures, like the Goblin Chieftain he becomes a 1/3. I love this guy!

You're an idiot.

1) You cannot respond to costs. Tapping Elvish Piper is a cost, therefor you cannot respond by tapping her first. Counter to that, they can activate the ability before the regeneration resolves.

2) Regen only taps the creature when it's actually regenerated. Until the Piper would die, it just sits there. It won't cause instant tapping.

Please know your rules before leaving comments like that. On the other hand, this is a great card. It optimizes on Goblin expendability for a nice effect.

I just like the fact it can sacrifice itself. Talk about being dedicated to one's work!

Hilarious art- I love the references to other cards, as well as the ludicrous flavor of a goblin stitching people back together.

@Kefra: It was always able to save goblin kings. Note that while the creature you sacrifice has to be a goblin, the creature you regenerate does not -- back in the day, that was very important (and was part of the reason this was so good), since your kings didn't count as goblins.

It doesn't matter now, but it's still a nice thing to note if you happen to have some non-goblins in your goblin deck.
