Good for sniping a regeneration onto a creature, but not as good as the enchantment counterpart, Regeneration, that it appears to be replacing. I'd rather have an enchantment with a regeneration ability usable repeatedly that an opponent has to waste a destruction spell on rather than an instant that only works once.

"Hey look! Regeneration is out of M10! That's right! You never really liked that card, eh? It was almost useless? Well, we heard you. Here's a completely new card that's a strictly worse Reknit which never saw any play in the first place, ENJOY!"

It boggles my mind that they didn't make this 1 mana. We already were given the superior Wrap in Vigor for 2 mana in future sight, and several creatures regenerate for 1 mana naturally. As much as i like the idea behind moving Regeneartion from enchantment into instant speed, this is a surprising opportunity missed by Wizards.

If they just made this a cantrip it might have been halfway decent...

G for regenerate a creature and draw a card sounds way better than this thing...

Needs to be one mana.
At least its better than most "regenerate target creature" cards that I've seen.

Why did such a useless card have to take such a generous name?

For what reason does this have a mana cost of 1Green and not Green? Oldschool Death Ward never was even remotely broken at the cost of White, so why the colorless mana?
Like this it's also worse than Reknit which can also be payed with white mana and can regenerate any permanent.
Wrap in Vigor is also superior to this card most of the time.
I can't quite believe Wizards didn't consider that when designing that card, but apparently they kept their eyes straight on Regeneration only.

Sigh...

Eh, I don't mind that it's 1Green, if you're running green you shouldn't be having mana issues. A typical green deck or even White/Green for that matter should have at least 7-8 mana by turn 5 or 6. The longer the battle goes on, the more mana you have. I don't play with a lot of pro-level decks, so maybe I'm missing that element, but for casual decks, 1Green doesn't seem like too much.

This card shall be like the chills of winter: swiftly forgotten when spring shoots rise.

Why not wrap in vigor?
Seriously?

I mean this isn't a terrible card, but why would you print a card like Wrap in Vigor in a set all about PREDICTING FUTURE SETS and then print a strictly worse version?

Great art though.

Why do they always make instant regeneration bad? Does it have the potential to be broken? It doesn't seem like it does...

This card seems like it would be a hell of a lot of fun with Isochron Scepter. :D

I'm surprised it is rated as low as it is... limited in scope, but certainly not terrible, especially with all the removal around. Vines of Vastwood is probably the better choice 9 times out of 10 though.

And now Scars of Mirrodin is introducing a card that makes a creature Indestructible for a turn. For 1 mana. As an instant. So this card is even more outclas sed.

Oh, the new card's name? Withstand Death.

"Wrap in Vigor is also superior to this card most of the time."

Most of the time? There are condition under which this is better? Wrap seems strictly better in every case. Hell, wrap can't be swerved and they can't counter it by giving your creature shroud. I can't think of a single case in which this is better.

So here is a place where the phrase "Strictly better" is being used entirely correctly.

@Doom_Lich Regeneration taps your creature right? Maybe if you don't want them tapped... ? I'm just grasping at straws here.

@Doom_Lich

What about a certain scenario where you want some of your creatures to die? But would still like to save one from a day of judgement

Solemn Simulacrum is an example, you might want to lose this and maybe something else, but save a Krosan Cloudscraper

Looks like she isn't quite dead yet. Which means in the art, combat damage still uses the stack.

Rebecca, why did this have to be your last piece of art for now? Wasted on such a bad card. I just finished reading the graphic novel "The Last Dragon" that she illustrated, and it was BEAUTIFUL, and I'm not really the type of guy who ever says that. I want here to come back to illustrate at least one card, and for that card to be a DRAGON.

Seedling Charm is way better. Regeneration when you need it, or trample or creature aura removal.

...I think I vastly prefer Reincarnation over this, despite being one G more expensive. (wonders if Reincarnation will get reprinted in RTR as fitting the Golgari mentality)

Looks like she took a Gut Shot.

ElMikkino, dberry02 -- I'm with you. Rebecca Guay is the ultimate master of making you want even the crappiest of cards by painting phenomenal art for them. Her Boomerang's the best. Her Channel's the best (not a crap card so much as one your friends will never let you play). She does Fae like nobody else painting for Magic does Fae. Other than Chippy, I'm not sure what other Magic artist gets more gatherer praise than her. Somebody brilliant assigned her Bitterblossom.

Too bad the card sucks, because between the art and flavour text this tells a beautiful story.

Not sure why this card is rated so low...

If the 2 mana cost of Doom Blade is cheap enough to kill a creature, I don't understand why anyone thinks the same mana cost to save your creature is not good?

Especially considering you can use this in combat when both creatures would trade... Then you save yours.. This is effectively a Doom Blade that works on any color... Removal in green is rare. This can help with that... Doesn't deserve this super low rating...

Really beautiful artwork here... Bought a foil copy for my girlfriend :-) Best 25 cents I ever spent on Valentines day.

would have been playable at Green. Can still save your butt in a draft, but really silly running this in constructed. Better options that cost Green.
