Pretty nice draw spell, I'd say, and it's even situationally better than Brainstorm at points, because if you don't fish up threats, at least you're not stuck not drawing any for two more turns.
I want my playset like now.

I have a playset of this now, and it's kickass in every way. Very splashable, and the 'drawback' is hardly a drawback unless you have an absolutely peerless hand.

It is a modern update of a Brainstorm. I'll still pick this over Divination.

So happy with practical blue spells at reasonable costs in this set.

I'm having a hard time deciding which is better: this or Ponder.
See Beyond replaces itself, and gives you the option of replacing the following draw with a card in hand. It's like a draw 2 for 2, but you don't gain card advantage.
Ponder orders the top 3 draws then replaces itself with the top card, but if you don't like any of those options, it replaces itself with a random card. It also thins the deck, all for the low price of 1 mana. Ponder is also a wonderful turn 1 play.

I like this way of card advantage. It allows you to shuffle cards back that you could possibly only make use of while they are in your library.
By the way, is here anyone else that thinks of Lois Lowry's "The Giver" when sesing this card?

Sooooooooooo many practical applications here. The most obvious ones right now seem to be quirky combo decks like Polymorph or Dragonstorm or Sovereigns of Lost Alara In either case, the goal of the deck is to NOT draw one's wincondition, but rather draw the enabler of said wincondition to then cheat the win condition(s) into play. This allows you to draw through your deck, which both archetypes want so desperately to do, AND lets you shuffle any of your beats that you accidentally drew too early back into your library.
FANTASTIC!

"I like brainstorm better", that cracked me up. That's like saying "Yeah, sure, Chrome Mox is good, but I like Black Lotus better." So does everyone else in the world.
Anyway, this card is pretty good. But could have been better (for example, oh I don't know, INSTANT SPEED. Wait, I forgot - instant speed drawing was killing Magic and destroying the balance. Right).

I like it. Good ability. Probably better than Divination but who knows.

Really, why can't this be an instant? Why are they so afraid of giving cheap instant card draw?

In a deck with Sensei's Divining Top and Progenitus, this is way better than Ponder.
Another efficient draw for my blue based decks combines well with Halimar Depths

Anyway, good card! As mentioned before, this is probably better than Divination.

It's a good card, but probably not as good as ponder. I think it should have cost one mana.
Also, I can't help but feel like this old dude is peeping into the girl's bathroom or something. Saucy old codger!

So underused. Draw 2 for 2 is really powerful, and the drawback is often as useful as the rest of the spell. Helps mold perfect hands. Instant speed would have broken this card in half.

I think people are missing the main point of this card. Its not just a decent draw spell, but one of the few ways you can put a card from your hand into your library and hopefully NOT draw that card the next turn. If you use this to your advantage (say, shuffle a possible polymorph target into your library), you now have a very efficient card.

This card isn't a "modern Brainstorm". This card is a watered down Lat-Nam's Legacy. Why this card is rated higher than the superior original it's based on is beyond me. There are a couple of distinct differences: with Lat-Nam's Legacy, you have to shuffle a card from your hand into your library first, then draw two cards. Also, you draw the two cards at the beginning of the next turn's upkeep. However, this is offset by the fact that Lat-Nam's Legacy is an instant.
Being able to use the two mana at the end of the opponents turn to play the spell and then get that mana back when you begin your turn and possibly use it for the three cards you'll draw that turn (two cards during the upkeep for Lat-Nam's Legacy and one card for the draw step) is a far better advantage that you do not get with See Beyond; and getting the cards right after you play See Beyond doesn't make up for that loss of advantage.
The only reason to play See Beyond over Lat-Nam's Legacy is if you're playing Standard Legal.

Great with Dragonstorm decks. If you draw one of your dragons, just shuffle it back and get two cards.

I run these in Polymorph deck. Draw the Blightsteel that I was looking to morph into? No problem, just shuffle it away and draw two card!

This isn't necessarily a worse Lat-Nam's Legacy. With Lat-Nam, you have to get rid of a card before seeing what cards you're going to get. You could theoretically get the same card you put into your library (although for hiding cards, Lat-Nam's is clearly superior). See Beyond works entirely differently, drawing cards before you choose which one to shuffle back in, giving you the opportunity to shuffle in a card you just drew. Lat-Nam doesn't give you that option. As such, I run four Lat-Nam's and two See Beyond.

that's because you can't see beyond the obvious.
which card (at the time of this card's printing) was legal in standard and which wasn't (answer: see beyond)? Which card is currently legal in modern (answer: see beyond)? Which card will you play over brainstorm in legacy (answer: neither)?

People also forget the potential power of shuffling effects. Ever put a bunch of scry into a deck with no shuffling effects? Yeah, there are situations where scry can suck. Someone hit a miracle terminus and crazy wreck you? Shuffling puts you that one step closer to recovery. Missing a land drop? Statistically, both drawing three cards in a turn and shuffling increase your chance of drawing a land.

Its funny that it was printed in the same set as Emrakul, the Aeons Torn.
