No - I'll go ahead and Alpha Strike without taking damage next turn. And then do it again.

This card is so good that it makes the blue cards in 2010 worth looking at in limited.

This card is awesome, and probably one of the few strong cards left in blue.

Witness the Blue Overrun. Makes UW Tokens, or lark, or anything that can even think about attacking get through, twice. And its showing up in decks for the defensive side too, oh you dont get to attack me next turn, and the turn after that. Double Fog, or Overrun?

and in limited? This card is AMAZING, at the release i was blessed, got two of them and some Cudgel Trolls, yeah, won that event.

Blue's Overrun?

I couldn't agree more.

Sadly...one of the few decent blue cards in 2010

Very useful card overall and when combined with Fatestitcher AND Royal Asasin could just destroy opponents creatures...

I have a question. If sleep is cast and I have a protection from blue creature does that creature tap also?

Your oponent won't know what hit them. Since they're asleep.

Well, I thought it was funny, anyway.

@Ace_Rimmer, this would not work as double fog. being sorcery speed, it will tap down, and they won't untap for a single turn, meaning it is like a single fog (or prevents pesky activated abilities as well). more useful as an end game spell. gives you 2 turns to attack through, unless they play a blocker the second time around. Very useful.

It's nice to see this card find a competitive home in Merfolk decks. It's one of my favorite cards from M10 and should receive the level of play it deserves.

Yes, your pro blue creature would also tap. Protection from cannot be destroyed, enchanted, blocked, or targeted by cards. Sleep does not destroy the pro blue creature, does not enchant it, or block it. Nor does it target it: sleep has an affect on all of your opponents creatures. Therefor, your pro blue creature would be tapped.

I was playing in FNM last night and they is abit of disbute how this card works on already tapped creatures.

I cast "sleep" on my oppenent and he currently had 3 creatures, 2 which were already tapped from his previous go.
He said he could untap them on his next go since they were already tapped since sleep didn't tap them. I let him have it since I play this casually and didn't want to make a fuss since I was winning anyway :P

So I need to know, Does sleep effect creatures already tapped or not?

@Fanuts:
Tapping a creature as part of an effect (rather than as part of a cost, such as "{T}:", or "Tap two creatures:") simply means that you should change that creature's status to "tapped". If it's already tapped, it's status remains the same, but that doesn't mean that nothing happened.

The first part of Sleep reads "Tap all creatures target player controls." This effect changes the status of all creatures target player controls to "tapped", regardless of their current status. The next part reads "Those creatures don't untap during during that player's untap step." The phrase that refers to "those creatures" refers to "all creatures the targeted player controls", not just the creatures that were already untapped when Sleep was cast.

For reference, I've looked at some rulings from Crystal Keep for similar effects. The ruling for Deadshot reads "Deadshot can target a creature which is already tapped as its first target, and it will still damage the second target. This is because it taps that creature as an effect, not as a cost. (Duelist Magazine #23, Page 22)"

Savvy? In short, your FNM buddy was wrong.

One thing i could see happening is using this in Bant Decks.
Stoic Angel + Sleep?
The player will lose so much momentum.

Amazing spell for the cost; tapping everyone for 2 turns is pretty devastating. With some big creatures in play, this is easily a game winner.

For old-school fun times that effect just one guy, check out Venarian Gold

If they survive the first wave, they will surely die during the second. If they don't, you're doing something wrong. This is simply amazing, waaaayyyy better than its 4CMC cost.
Definitely a 5 star.

CMC stands for Converted Mana Cost so no need for CMC cost its redundant

@jokergius:
I'm sorry, I couldn't get past the first four words, the combination of "'ello loves" and "quicky query" nearly knocked me out.

Back to the card, i find it very helpful. Especially when the opponent has a lot of creatures, you can get a nice round of attacking without being blocked, and since the creatures don't untap, you don't need to worry about blocking. I use it as much for offence as I do defence.

Play it at Instant speed during their turn with Quicken , can't attack for a turn take down their offense for 2 turns and defense for one? sounds good to me.
