Question: I'm building a cumulative upkeep deck for kitchen table play. If I remove my upkeep, say, skip it every turn, would that cause the not paying this card's upkeep to trigger? Like, does the effect trigger even if the cost was never asked for?

@Openseasonnoob: No if u skip your upkeep you don't need to pay and it stays on the field. That is the standard trick vs upkeeps. thou this card is awsome!

It's also a pretty easy way to exile your library to set up Mirror of Fate, in addition to preventing some damage while you play the last few lands needed for the mirror and whatever you want to stack your "new" deck with

So instead of losing the game through loss of life, you lose the game thorough decking yourself.... either way you still lose. This card is rubbish.

@Kirbster: Did you actually read this card? It can in the least stall your opponents attacks for half a dozen turns, and at best make it impossible for your opponent to win by dealing damage to you. Also, it doesn't kill you quickly. If you have it exile 6 cards from your deck, it's already in play for four turns. If you played this on turn four, how long do games in your area last?
I don't say this card is tournament worthy. But any blue enchantment that can completly negate your opponents attacks for several turns is worth a second look. Like, consider it in a mill deck. Your opponents library is down to 10 or 20 cards, you just need a few more turns to mill away the rest. This card buys you that time. Who cares what happens to your library if you win?
Or, to put it into other words: your library is a resource. Same as mana, life and whatever. In most games, that resource is barely touched. You lose or win with maybe 30 cards left in your library that played no role in this game. This card allows to you tap that unused resource, to buying yourself the time required to win.
Not to mention that there are many awesome combos with this card. Not only donate, think about shared fate: play shared fate, play this, exile your library. Your opponent won't ever draw a card again.
It's an interesting unique card, that can be awesome in some decks even without certain combos, and it got impressive art. It's also very interesting for Johnnies. I wish there'd be more such cards. 4.5 stars from me.

Under the assumption that you don't build around it, this is the worst card in existence. It's basically an automatic self-mill with an upside that is so hard to use (again, if not built around) without killing yourself. A prime target for Donate or other similar effects.
It can be possibly built around to not be a completely ridiculous awful card you'd never want to cast, but even then, it's a huge risk for very little reward. A card with a downside this awful needs to be more breakable than this.

Fantastic tool in the right deck. I ran this in a deck with Future Sight; Activate Thought Lash to get rid of the trash and just win.

This card has Johnny written in huge flaming letters al over it. Other than Johnny combos, very dangerous to use, and many better damage prevention methods exist. If only the cards went to the graveyard instead...

Not so bad. Play it, use it, and when you almost mill yourself, give it to your opponent and let him/her deal with the drawback coupled with a healthy number of upkeep counters that you racked up. Bazaar TraderDonate

Use with Lantern of Insight to dig deep into your own library all you need is some draw spells.
Also could be a combo-enabler with Laboratory Maniac in Innistrad when it comes out.

in casual just make a 500 card deck, with Battle of Wits. It's really quite simple, actually. :)
Ugh, I can't imagine anybody using this card and winning except Charlie Sheen. 0.5/5 EDIT: Yay for Laboratory Maniac! This is finally a decent card! 3.5/5!

@Lueseto: Just on principle you shouldn't give any card 5 stars just for a single combo. If that is the only thing that makes this good in any way, this is a bad card.
That said, that's not the only thing that makes this playable. But a 5 star card can be thrown in any deck that can pay its cost, and instantly make it better. This does nearly the opposite.

Whereas crapmeisters such as Great Wall and Rakalite don't really do anything, this card will kill you... far faster than your opponent could ever dream of.
Just use Zedruu the Great Hearted and let somebody else enjoy this horrible thing.

Really great card, run this in my black/blue Laboratory Maniac deck. Though I feel like this card should be Black, not Blue. Blue is more about control, while Black is more about this kind of thing, having trade offs but being awesomely amazing.

This card is INSANE. If you want to keep it in play for five opponent's turns, you only need to exile 1+2+3+4 = 10 cards. If you would have been dealt 20 damage, you'd have been dead anyways, so in that case this card is awesome since you're still alive and well. Otherwise, it's a five-turn Fog at the cost of at most thirty cards from your library, and if you've played with Arc-Slogger you know that it's nothing. This should give you all the time you need to control the hell out of your opponent and put down your win condition. Ah, and bounce the enchantment back.
What would a five-turn Fog have costed anyways? 4GGWW? But here it is at 2UU, drop it and aggro is dead.

Quite usable as a tutor with Lantern of Insight effects. Also, while your life total isn't especially important, neither is your library.
Consider shelldock isle as a means of getting free plays midgame. Used with bounce cards you can save yourself from this if your cards become lower than your life total.
Mirror of Fate loops can keeps you alive later in the game (leave one in your library's 7 cards until you can win) Against Red (and usually black) this is a tough card to get around. In a deck full of unblockable beaters this may buy you the precious few turns you need to get lethal.

I think this card has some sick potential. Some risk involved of course, but if you use Laboratory Maniac for example, you shouldn't lose the game by damage until your next upkeep. Keep removing the time counters (via Hex Parasite, Power Conduit or Thrull Parasite), and you're save from damage for a considerable amount of time.
And this might be not that bad in Commander either - in a 100 card deck, there's enough to dig through your library until you draw something to stop this from getting out of hand in the right deck.

Donate it to your opponent and they'll be living on borrowed time. Great in a Zedruu edh when you wanna flex your muscles.
Great Johnny card. Donate, Future Sight, Laboratory Maniac. It seems like this card gets better and more interesting all the time. The is a bit restrictive, but a great, fun card that isn't too powerful.
The art is pretty gross though. Her expression is gross enough, even without the eldrich abomination coming out of her skull.
