Would it be possible to evoke Spitebellows then use Cauldron Haze or Cauldron of Souls to give it persist? If so, it would deal 6 damage to target creature twice for 1RedRed (+ 1White or Black if you are casting Cauldron Haze).

Where ancients tread + spite bellows = 11 damage whenever it enters and leaves play.

in response to cauldron of souls/cauldron haze, you can order the stack to make that work, it would enter play, sac., then return to play, and die immediately from having 0 toughness and leave again and do another 6. This of course, is if you don't have the mana to play it normally, since you could always leave it in play and give it persist when someone tries to kill it with a terminate. Keeping in mind its target creature only, and also keep in mind it is not a may ability, so if you have no other creature to target besides your own have to blast it.

To me the real value of this card is that even though it can be a creature, if I haven't drawn the 6 mana I need to play it that way, I can still evoke it for 3 and effectivley remove anything without shroud/indestructibility or higher than 6 toughness (which isn't very many creatures, besides walls and cards like sundering titan). In essence its almost exactly like a shriekmaw except it works when it leaves play instead of entering, and to this effect works differently with certain combos. The best thing about this card that really stands out is that it says when it "leaves play" not when it goes to graveyard, the ability works even if the creature is exiled or temporarily removed from play with spells like ghostway and otherworldly journey. You could play spitebellows, wait for an opponent to try to kill it or chump block it, then remove it with otherworldly journey, do 6 to a creature, and have it come back into play as an 8/3. Can also evoke infinite number of times with a paleoloth in play, since evoking it still plays the creature who is 6 power, allowing you to return a 5+ power creature from your graveyard. Pair that with a stuffy doll and six mana gives you 12 damage a turn to target opponent, though it would require a lot of set up to play stuffy doll, paleoloth, and a spite bellows together.

Bram, it works, it's when it comes into play, not as it comes into play. It's there long enough to target.

So just for the fun of theorycrafting ...
This + Where Ancients Tread + Pandemonium + Stalking Vengeance + some way to give it persist ...

This combos with Kikki-Jikki, right? I might just try this in my Kikki/Stuffy deck.

Yes it would.
EDIT: actually I don't think you could use either of those cards because the sacrifice goes on the stack right after it comes into play.

DOUBLE EDIT: It would? Sweet!

Spitebellows + Nova Chaser = Oh jeez, you just killed my creature AND got a 10/2 with trample!
Spitebellows + Nova Chaser + Incandescent Soulstoke = OH GOD. 6 CREATURE DAMAGE AND 10/2 BALL LIGHTNING..

@luxma: Actually, you can't hit players with his ability. Still awesome though.

@luxma: Yeah... If you have Stuffy Doll out and are willing to pay 8 mana. Seems a bit much.

Ah the fun I've had with this card. Cheated in with incandescent soulstoke, evoked in and imprinted on mimic vat, bounced around with nova chaser. Oh, and a cheeky double cleave just for added joy. Not an awesome card by itself, but it can easily win games with the right support.

Even though it should have haste, it still combos well with Disciple of Bolas

Wow, am I the only person to notice the HORRIBLE artwork? It looks like something out of a Kindergarten class. I refuse to play this card because of the artwork alone. GG Larry Macdougall
