I'm glad the card isn't good enough to make me resent the bland artwork. I hate it when a great card looks crummy on the table.

Why does this have the lowest rating? It's certainly not great, but it is decent in Limited.

Maybe if it was fear and another ability for a 4/2? Shroud? Cascade?

Lovingly dubbed 'Tard Zombies by my group of friends. If it were 4/2 fear and had Cascade instead of Cycling I would still be hard-pressed to find room for it. with the aforementioned changes would make it worth playing. I'm still trying to see the thought process on how this card got through in this form, short of cycling fodder.

I actually like the artwork. It's very unsettling.

This is a land cycling card, not a creature. If it wasn't more expensive than it was worth it would be overpowered. Then, say, if you have more than enough lands and you don't need a land cycling card later in the game, it is still somewhat useful as a creature if drawn. a 2/4 creature with fear, which may be able to act as that one blocker you need to stay alive or sneak in that little bit of damage you needed to snatch a victory from defeat. Dual use cards are pretty nice, and I'm somewhat surprised at the one-sided reviews it is getting. Any zombie deck in standard should be running four of these as a staple for getting the mana you need to win.

This card and the others like it were printed specifically for cascade decks to have a land fetcher that the cascades would skip over. Theyre filler cards still though.

'Fear'?
How can any creature be afraid of such an overpriced, unremarkable card?

Why all the hate? In the proper deck, this is a very good card. It all depends what you use it for. I have it in a blue/black zombie-control deck and its very useful. Use it for cycling, toss it to the grave then raise it if you need it for cheaper...or just leave him there to get an Avatar of Woe faster ;) If you bring it back, its nice to boost Lich Lord of Unx's second ability. You'd be stupid to play it straight up for its cost.

At half a glance, it's CC is rubbish... but it's got Island AND Swamp cycling, AND Fear, AND it's a Zombie.
There are great perks to using this in a U/B Zombie deck. In the company of cards such as Zombify, Death Baron, and Avatar of Woe the advantages FAR outweigh the gripes if you ask me. The 6 CC is way too high to pay straight up,... so, cycle him, then rise him from the grave and get a Death Baron or a Cemetery Reaper in play. Think outside the box.
Also, i LIKE the art a lot! Ordered two of these for xmas.

@snyden: for a zombie deck, you'd add twisted abomination, which is in each and every way better than this for zombie decks. And four swampcyclers are enough, so there'd be no reason to add the jhessian zombies. And if you need 8 landcyclers in your deck to keep it playable, rather add some actual mana acceleration to it, simply up the landcount.

I love how cards from this cycle occupy the spots for the three lowest rated cards in the set.
Ah, Jhessian Zombies. You finally have a use for me in my Boneyard Wurm deck.

Not fantastic on it's own, but sweet in zombie tribal, and like the rest of the cards in the cycle, somewhat relevant late-game due to some sort of surprise unblockability, and fetches you a critical land-drop early game when you need that mana-fixing most.

This card is basically a tutor for lands with the ability to be a creature (albiet an inefficient creature) in a pinch. Deserves at least 2/5.
