Lol, finally there's a use of cards like Moonlace and Ghostfire.

I almost feel like I am cheating when I play this card.

Magic 101 -- When your opponent Disenchants (Boomerangs, naturalizes) Story Circle, tap all your available white mana in response. This will keep an organized attack (or direct damage) at bay for that turn.

Magic 101 -- Story Circle can hold back many creatures like a dam holds back water. Like a dam, though, if it breaks (disenchant) you will be flooded with an attack that may overwhelm you. I would recommend still removing as many creatures from the battlefield to relieve the pressure. It is unwise to think that this protective enchantment will be able to hold back every attack all the time.

Magic 101 -- Finding a balance of white mana to maintain Story Circle and cast spells is the key.

If a player uses lightning bolt, can i prevent this??
Please answer this ASAP
thanx

@traficko: Not quite right, targets are selected when the spell is cast, not when it resolves (unless the card states otherwise). So when your opponent cast lightning bolt they would have to say if they were targeting a player or creature then you choose if you want to activate story circle

IT'S LIKE THE CIRCLES OF PROTECTION EXCEPT BETTER.

Like using iddqd. Really feels like cheating. I can't imagine I white deck that couldn't utilize this, can you? 5/5.

This is basically a death sentence for mono red or mono black, which have absolutely no way of dealing with enchantments. I suppose red could still kill you with land destruction (though Wizards has effectively killed that concept), and black could still make you lose life. And if you play this in a white and blue deck, you can neutralize their removal with your counters, which you will surely have more of. Way too good, I think.

Love this... its a nice white control card... seems to me like a great card in limited especially.

Curiously Story Circle lets me "choose" a source rather than target it.

For example, my opponent wants to attack with Progenitus, so he uses land destruction on my untapped plain. In response I tap the plain and "choose" Progenitus, even though it cannot be targeted by white spells or effects!

Contrast with Gossamer Chains, which cannot be used on Progenitus.

@ CyanCentaur:
Yes, in your example Story Circle would indeed protect YOU from Progenitus.

@CyanCentaur:
Good call. It's pretty neat that this can stop Progenitus.

@traficko:
Story Circle's ability prevents Lightning Bolt from dealing damage to you, but it does nothing to prevent damage dealt to creatures you control. So if an opponent casts Lightning Bolt, you can respond with Story Circle's ability, naming Lightning Bolt as a source of damage (as^suming that you initially chose red).

That doesn't look like a circle of stories at all!... Looks more like a circle... of not-stories.

Salient's Comment- final proof that Gatherer's Censor is a complete farce. lmao.

For the actual card, I'm not sure if I want to run this over Voice of All in my Kaalia deck or not. 4cmc seems to be something of a hindrance in a deck that wants to jump from 3-6 off of Kaalia, and Voice is costed a bit cheap so that odds are you won't play it off of Kaalia- you'll just cast.

Also, definitely would not consider using both. One is a good back up, both is just being a lame Lockdown deck, which isn't fun :p

Hmm...how about 2 Circles of Protection instead? Just the Red one and the Black one...yeah. I think I'll do that. (I don't play optimally I know. I don't try to either so it works.)

I may prefer this to Voice of All, but what's to stop me from running both! White Deck Wins.

Combine with Ghostly Prison/Norn's Annex/Leyline of Sanctity for true White lockdown. The good part about this combo is that each card is very good by itself, and if you never see them together your opponent is still having a hard time. The last one is still best left in the sideboard, though.

So, to all you *** Sapiens out there, as Salients comment proves Gatherer finds you offensive. Puny mortals.

Couldn't anyone take Aleksi Briclot aside for a moment and quietly advise that this art might be a little too... what's the word I'm looking for? Evocative? Risque? ... ***erotic? ... I've never seen a male opponent activate a tenth edition Story Circle without making an obscene hand gesture.

(Edit: sort of ironic that Wizards of the Coast censored a word that gets casually tossed around in Art Appreciation 101 classes, but printed this picture. Also sort of weird - they didn't censor "erotic.")

@DoragonShinzui: More like Rune of Protection: Whatever
because circle of protection uses colorless mana and that's significant in multicolor decks.
