Just another card to throw in a Fungus deck I guess. Most likely it will be used to boost mycoloth.

This is one of only a few cards that are mono-green that can give another creature haste. It's ability to give haste at possibly no additional mana cost (just need one saproling; very easy to get).

This can go into any casual multiplayer deck with green to good effect. If you play it on turn two, you can give something scary haste on turn 5. People let this slide because it is so unasuming, and yet it can be quite the surprise when you cast a Nacatl War-Pride and attack with it the same turn. Obviously it's power is greater when used with other fungus and saprolings, but this is one of the few fungus that thrives by itself. One of the others is Sporesower Thallid.
If you want this effect in green your options are limited. I like this the best for the general case, considering this complete look at the other green haste giving cards: Concordant Crossroads: helps your opponent out too Touch of Vitae: an expensive and defensive card that is passable only because of the cantrip Instill Energy: not really haste, just lets it attack as though it gives haste. Reflex Sliver: only gives it to slivers

If there is more than one of these on the field, does the trigger affect itself and all other copies? For instance, if there are two Vitaspore Thallid on the field, would each get 2 spore counters or only one each?
So anyway, I thought of why this card is good, it has to be in the correct type of Fungus deck (like many cards, but I think you can play aggro Fungus or control Fungus and have the decks be very similar)
Ok so I was playing some 1 on 2s (I was the one) with several advantages of course. After winning 3-0 we played a FFA which means more like 2vs1 there goes my bonuses.
So friend A (if you can call him that because of the deck he used) was milling me with a Alara-Standard deck. I consider my Fungus deck (Time Spiral Standard) to be more on the control side. And has 20 lands in it. So yes after 3 Mind Funerals I was very dead. However I had a Null Profusion. Being a smart player I used its disadvantage to live after my deck was spent, in the process I managed to beat him. But I was decked and couldn't play anymore spells.
Friend B using a Rebel deck (mostly from Time Spiral) was kinda killing me slowly, since I could now longer play spells here was my field.
So I was stalling, but I couldn't activate Psychotrope since that would kill me, and I couldn't play the cards in my hand either (another Psychotrope and a Forest anyway)
However if I had this card I could use it to kill my saps and keep his board clean, even with my gain of life I couldn't beat his creature amount and killed myself by playing my Forest.
Point is, this card is pretty special in a special way. I can't see haste being good enough for most Fungus decks, but it is the cheapest 'free' sac outlet for the Saprolings, other than Utopia Mycon, tying with Deathspore Thallid. I do know that Deathspore Thallid can have no good targets (sometimes you can his stuff and you don't want to hit your own- maybe 1/1 Fungus and Saprolings) and to be honest I'm not too sure on, but there may be an effect that messes with Utopia Mycon and his mana ability (although I do doubt it) either way you can only have 4 of them fellas in there.
I own very many of the TS block fungus and Saproling cards in a G/B ~control deck, but I do not own this one. His purpose is small, but it is there.
Even if you don't need Haste, if your deck is build to make sacs you may want this fella as a producer and sac engine. His effects are limited and most Fungus decks can't use them as well as a combo like deck. Either way I give him a 2.5, not good enough in many decks but has a definite place.
Also don't fall to the Mycoloth thing, he is a great card, but makes Fungus and their purpose dull. (He wins them all) if you use him, I suggest you stop, its too easy to win with.
Or rather, TS is vintage or legacy now so yes use it, you'll be dying anyway
