A problem I see with this one is that it takes way too long to get Saprolings into the field.
In a Green-Black deck, you could pair him with Sporoloth Ancient to put them out a turn sooner, and then you'd have 2 sources for Saprolings to sac.

Diachronos, you have never played a fun w/ fungus deck, if you have, you get seriously screwed
T1: Thalid T2: Deathspore Thallid (1 counter on Thallid) T3: Utopia Mycon, Thallid, Thallid Germinator, Deathspore Thallid (1 on deathspore, 2 on thallid) T4: Sporesower Thallid, {lets say you went utopia and another deathspore} (2 on deathspore, 1 on deathspore, 3 on thallid, 1 on utopia) T5 Sporoloth Ancient, you start dropping creature after creature after creature with -1/-1 turn 6 and on, more sporesowers is always good, but doubling season is nice, life and limb = ultra mana, verdent embrace is a good pump and will toss out many saprolings, Verdoloth the Ancient with life and limb, throw in timber protector to make your forest saprolings indestructable 2/2, eldrazi monument is a new addition, and can take the place of Akroma's memorial
and you just keep going till you say I wanna win now and go alpha strike with many huge indestructable, flying, trampling, haste, vigilant, first striking, pro black and pro red, and after the block, you sac the blocked saprolings for a number of fungus effects, like killing their creatures with -1/-1 or regening you fungi, or pumping your fungi or gaining life, or making mana
makes every fungus deck need black for removal like this guy and some black utility cards (conspiracy makes all you saprolings fungus that produce saprolingsm thanks to sporesower and sporoleth, but you loss the sac saproling abilities)

@Dingo777...you forgot to mention utopia mycon which makes it easy to splash other colors... making paradox haze a great card to have, and making saproling deck that much faster (that is, if you don't have doubling season, which i don't)

Don't put him in a thallid deck, you will just get wrathed. Put him in a slow deck as a decoy, they will waste there point removal early because they don't want it to stay around too long, once you have worn there defenses down, then play one threat and wait for a wrath affect, than play another. That is called skill, strategy.
Or just keep making your casual creature decks, what do I care.

Yes I always get Wraithed, especially during my turn, although usually its necessary since this amazing Thallid just cleaned your field. "Don't put him in a thallid deck" really? He is amazing if they don't kill him their field is usually constantly dead, if they do use the stack and kill their creatures first anyway, and the thallids just keep growing. True Tommy that is effective strategy, but if you don't put him in a thallid/fungus deck that has black in it, you're honestly an idiot. This guy is a powerhouse and he kills everybody's happiness, except mine, I like my field alive and growing while theirs are all dying.

I use four of these myself in a zombie deck, and my friends I've played hate them, especially if I get them synchronized to where I'm getting a Saproling every turn. Combine that with the bringing back from the dead cards I have, such as Gravedigger and Dread Return, I can usually keep them synchronized and keep my enemies from being able to do much against my zombies. Now if only I had a Coat of Arms for that deck.

In a fungus token deck, this works wonders with grave pact! Sacrifice a few saproling to take down one creature and then make them sacrifice as many creatures as you your saproling.

All of my friends, and my brother, that know my Sap ramp deck groan when I bring this guy out. XD It's so awesome. I usually count up the total toughness of my opponent's creatures, then pick up that many Saprolings and say: "Get rid of your creatures."

Alone-Useless. Built around-A horrible, horrible experience to play against. Fun with Fungus was the first deck I ever bought and this guy made that deck win. One of my favorite cards ever. You go, you crazy card-advantage machine, go.

I love fungus decks an have a pure sap/fungus deck with no other creature types except from zombie and shaman. FYI that's death spore and ghave for pll that don't know. But eny way this guy eats 70% of my friends removal and I could have 5/5's and fungus walls and they use five sources of removal before they get it. They hate this card because on turn 6 i can have complete lock down on all creatures and in multi player this saves me long enough for ghave parallel lives, mycon blade combo or the sprout storm one. I love hitting ppl with billions of saps made at the end of there turns whacking them on my turn....I do tin on other pols turn and I hate the silence on a creature card...dam that thing.....uag...

Each Time Spiral card was an homage to at least one previously printed card.
@Tommy9898 Because its SUCH a good strategy to put a card in a deck that it doesn't fit in, purely as a decoy, and keep yourself from playing better cards that fit the deck's purpose so much better, and rely on your opponents Wraths (and your ability to predict them) rather than using it in a deck that it fits perfectly in, and is arguably on of the best cards that deck, instead of either A) using that space for a work-around card (instead of throwing this in "as a decoy" or B) Put him in the deck he belongs in, and figure out a different work around for Wraths.
Side-note: It is a little off color, but Terra Eternal and Life and Limb work together very well to keep your Saprolings alive...

Fungus decks are quite vulnerable to evasive creatures without this guy. He is pretty much a necessity if you want to stay in the game.

Game result question: This states target creature gets -1/-1 until end of turn. As a state based effect a +1/+1 counter is removed if negated by a -1/-1 counter. Will this help to lower an opposing creature with multi +1/+1 counters on it? I've always thought nay because it's not a counter placement, but they (surprisingly, my opponent) said it works the same way.

It's amazing how powerful this creature is. In my dedicated fungus deck these are the true workhorses. Get out loads of saps and this guy *begs* for removal. Use Germinator to pump him up to board wipe effects and help finishers get through, use fecundity to keep the card advantage on your side, use utopia Mycon to deal with mana screw..
It works great and even wtih Mycoloth in there it's *maybe* a $10 deck. Amazing control potential and this guy is an excellent way to deal with token hosers such as Blood Seeker or Soul Warden.

This card is referencing Thallid, as well as Phyrexian Plaguelord.
