Well, that suspend is practically worthless. It might be worth it late game when they have no hand, but only if they draw lands. And it's a rare...

This card only works if the time counters can be removed the opponent plays any spells.

2 Jhoira's Timebugs for a 2 mana 4/4 with haste, flying and firebreathing. Also nice in the wake of mass land destruction. But not extremely impressive.

Don't use this is a land destruction deck? Haha don't even waste your time. I've never gotten to play this off of suspend. NEVER. And i've tried oh so many times. Pfft, and give up on using this in multiplayer.

Once again "Pardic" is being used to mean "Useless".

isn't the idea of suspending to get creatures out earlier? This seems like you will get it out very late like this, since opponents will most likely be hellbent only mid to late game. Maybe with some discard deck...

yea the suspend ability is garbage...unless you use a Deep-Sea Kraken at the same time. give your opponent a tough choice they can either play spells and give me a 6/6 unblockable or hold off the spells and give me a 4/4 flying firebreather

Anyone just consider hard casting it. Yeah it would be worse than shivan dragon but still, in limited, its a freakin' 4/4 flier in red. It can win games just as well as anything else, no need to be so picky. Also you could just wait until you have a rift elemental so you can suspend it than get it into play with haste right then and there.

Alternatively, you can hope your opponent forgets the ability. Since it's optional they don't have to add a time counter...

...yeah big hopes I know...

Seems fine if you have Fury Charm or something to take off the counters right away. Not to mention you can just hard-cast it and its fine.

This card really is only useful against control decks that seek to leave all their lands untapped and counter what you play. The dragon is supposed to force them to tap their lands in an effort to keep him out of play. However, what that means is that you too will have to stop playing spells to avoid giving them a target for their counterspells, and that means that they will just be stockpiling their counters, and will likely be able to spare one for this guy.

In a land destruction deck, this guy is excellent. It's basically a certain 4/4 pump-able flyer for 2 mana.
My deck manages to have him resolve from suspension 80% of the time at least, but it's a deck I don't ever take into multiplayer for obvious reasons, or against anything whose strategy is T1 birds or elves.

I personally think it's great in Kaalia of the Vast.

I use it exactly as if it was just a Shivan Dragon, with superior artwork :)

And in Commander, you have NINETY-NINE other cards to pull a bit of extra weight to make up for the one indulgence.

some would say if you don't use a couple of those slots to excercise your right to be a stubborn mule and pick cards you like that aren't 'strictly better' than anything, and are 'strictly worse' than a number of things, then you're approaching the format from the wrong angle.

Early game, your opponent will be playing spells. Late game, you can hardcast it anyway. Unless you've got a timebug on the field, this card just can't beat the curve.

The suspend should be fun if you can prevent your opponent from casting any spells.
I might try to build a variation of a Scepter Chant deck. I already know the perfect name for it:
"Silence! I kill you!"

It would have been so good if opponent spells removed time counters. As it is, though, this fearsome dragon can be easily kept at bay.

Fury Charm can be used cleverly: If you suspend it in a situation where your opponent doesn't really want to cast anything, you can bait them into doing so to stop the dragon and then resolve it anyway.

The Johnny in me kept trying to think of ways to make the suspend useful, but every strategy was kinda convoluted and just made me wonder why to use this over Shivan Dragon.

After suspending it, drop a Deep-Sea Kraken.

Getting a well-deserved reprint, and downgrade to uncommon, in Modern Masters. This guy's good but not rare good.

Nearly every card in Time Spiral block was a throwback to at least one previously printed card.

This card references Shivan Dragon. It has been pointed out that perhaps it is a 'Pardic" dragon as most of the other cards with "Pardic" in their name have generally been considered "bad cards"; see Pardic Miner, Pardic Swordsmith, etc.

Use Jhoira of the Ghitu's ability twice, once for this guy and once for Deep-Sea Kraken. Then let your opponent think.
