I can't decide if this card is good or not... The pair of vigilance with haste or flying offers speed or evasion (both attack-oriented) while still being able to block. First strike + vigilance seems to favor more of the blocking aspect of it, though. Also, this card is green, where creatures can be pumped by any number of means, while two of the three abilities are predominately white. But 2/3?

Old players know she's legendary, but the game has changed... like Serra Angel was a rare that everybody wanted, one of the best creatures in the game, now it's an uncommon in M10...that's Wizards.

3 mana casting cost. Forestwalk. Vigilance. And some of you think she should have 3 power... even for a legendary 3 power would make her overpowered, even ignoring the first strike. At 2/3, simply perfect. And the art... lovely. She is just beautiful.

In tenth edition, the premium aka foil aka shiny cards did not have reminder rules text, that made room for flavor text. If you have a shiny one it will have that flavor text.

I dont know what all you peoples problems are, a 2/3 for 3 is a little bland, but forestwalk, first strike and vigilance make this a great card, against a green deck, this will be getiing in for 2 a turn and will still make for a strong deffence, 2 power and first strike are good early but she does lose her punch later in the game
noting that, all 2/what evers lose their punch late game when the 5/5 and the 9/9 land on the field

Oracle says it has flavor text because foils from X Edition had no reminder text, which sometimes cleared enough space for flavor text.

sweet card, especially when your opponent's playing forests. Gatherer says there's a flavor text on the tenth edition version but I don't think there is. also, the version from the anthologies box set was misprinted as a 2/2 rather than 2/3... no wonder she became "the cursed."

Newer foils don't have reminder texts, and instead usually have a flavor text if they didn't before. (Reminder texts are in parentheses and are italicized, often stating rules we already know.)
My Mirri, Cat Warrior from Exodus is only a 2/2 o_O - what do I believe?!?! Oh and by the way don't forget "Mirri, Cat Warrior counts as a Cat Warrior" (best rules text ever!)

Ideal target for Rancor, back when. She seems underpowered by the standards of modern expansions (Boggart Ram-Gang, Leatherback Baloth, Vampire Nighthawk), but should be compared to contemporaneous creatures with 3 cmc such as Jolrael's Centaur, Trained Armodon. Despite her looks Mirri is better suited to defending the board than to an aggressive strategy.

Talk about a bad design. They wanted a badass legendary, but green isn't the color with creatures with lots of abilities (that would be white). It's a color of creatures that are or get big (not only that, but still). Also, vigilance is okay now, but back then it didn't make sense at all in green, same with first strike.
I also don't like that it's weak but it tricks you with its three abilities.

2/3 with an ability is about average for say that gives a 2/3 forestwalker eg. Elite cat warrior The legend effect is giving her an extra 2 off-color abilities. How is that bad?

I hate how they reprinted classic legends in tenth edition as it just does not make sense. Did the characters come back for the set? no, it is a core set and they are long dead anyway. So why reprint them? They never reprint any other legends unless it is in those special non-legal packs, so why do it here? This is the ONLY core set they did this, so it obviously is not standard procedure. This is so frustrating.

@Jsttu - I quite like legends in core sets, it adds a bit more complexity to just adding 4 of every good card to the deck. Though this hasn't stopped pseudo-legendary planeswalkers being 4-ofs (which are also in core sets).

Mirri can attack without being blocked due to forest walk. Troll Ascetic cannot defeat Mirri's first strike. Troll Ascetic cannot attack because Mirri has vigilance.

One of my dreams is to see all members of the Weatherlight crew being printed in the same Core set.
This is a very controlling card for green, and the synergy between her abilities and general green buffing is remarkable. She is an incredible early (and late if pumped) game defender, and most importantly, she almost always nudges some damage through.
That forestwalk is also not to be underestimated. I think about 40% of players on magic online use green in edh (edric, animar, zegana, azusa, doran, mimeoplasm all quite popular right now) so she turns into a remove-or-die situation pretty quick. This is less relevant in person, where if your friends play green you might seem a bit nasty using her. I highly recommend her as a general, although beware, monogreen edh is a very tough but rewarding deckbuilding experience. I have gotten great results with her though, and a simple GDW strategy laced with equips and monogreen's sparse removal choices. ( hornet sting, roots, moonglove, etc.) If they're playing green, I get a huge advantage, and I switch to an aggressive commander damage strategy. Occasionally I can pull off a fifth turn win:
1 llanowar elves 2 mirri 3 increasing savagery, swing for 7 4 swing for 7 5 swing for 7. You just lost to forestwalk.
Although, a 6-9 turn win is much more common. Silhana ledgewalker makes a great second in command, she responds very well to stacking equips/auras.

Why equip her with Gorgon Flail when you can equip her instead with Basilisk Collar and combo that with Overrun?
Vampire Nighthawk is Mirri's black, non-legendary equivalent. 1CC for a 2/3 with three sweet abilities.

Forestwalk can be pretty nasty as a sure-fire clock in Legacy. Back her with Karakas and you have something almost as mean as True-Name in Green v. Green matches.
