Wizards several times stated that Elvish Piper was inspired by this card.
I love Un-card for both being entertaining and partially serving as avant-garde of future Magic cards.
And I agree with mirrorman, yet the problem is that Un-cards don't get any Oracle updates ;)
I'm a Johnny at heart, but Timmy gaming can be great fun as well!

elvish piper and quicksilver amulet are both better than timmy, the elf because it's cheaper and the amulet because it's colorless.

Mirrorman: Back when this card was printed, Legend was a subtype, not an supertype. Additionally, WotC doesn't bother updating the un sets when the game changes. Elsewhere in the set, there's a card that's still listed as an interrupt, FFS.

Between the three, I think I personally lean somewhere right between Johnny, Combo Player and Timmy, Power Gamer.
However, Spike, Shot Elder is my preferred card.

Best way to get into the game? Be 9 when you get into the game and get into it right when the first Un set comes out. Timmy, Quicksilver Amulet, Elvish Piper, and Incoming! have always had a special place in my heart for the hilarious shenanigans that ensued when playing my younger brothers at the time.
