Love this card.
I run a white and blue artifact deck.
And noone objects to me speeding the game up. Until I have all the cards I need to play almost my entire deck in 1 turn.

Also note that this card makes you draw in the upkeep step, you can combo it with Paradox Haze to increase the advantage to yourself.

I think people are overlooking this and solitary confinement. Howling mine uses draw phase, this uses upkeep.

Too bad it's defender, attacking with him and seeing if your opponent will decide to kill it would be awesome to watch. Maybe play him along with something that allows him to attack?

I was once in a four player free for all where a guy had a deck built around this. He used a single contagion clasp (this was before scars so its all he had) to pump his archive giving us all sorts options that we could only look at thanks to his lodestone golems, and whenever we did get something rolling he would just All is Dust. He never lost tempo or decked out thanks to Elixir of Immortality; the life gain did help him, and he would always re-draw an All is Dust. He also used Obelisk of Alara just for the life boost.

Earlier in the game I had ***ed him off, so when I went to attack a different opponent he used Fate Transfer on my pumped Kazandu Bladmaster to give his counters to one of my opponents creatures.

So, it's a howling mine that costs 1 more mana and dies really easily? I guess if you spent 4 freaking mana you could get another counter and then it would turn into font of mythos. You'd have to do it again before it actually gets better than that.

Costs too much to be good.

Playing this in multiplayer makes people not want to kill you, which makes this guy dear and precious to me.

I guess you could pair it with Solitary Confinement, too.

@Daikoru, Wakestone Gargoyle says Hi.

Walking Archive is a funny card. My friends laugh at me for playing it. Beefing him up and everybody draws a ton of cards. Everybody is happy! ...Then... Jaces Erasure comes out... suddenly everybody is feeling squeamish about my Walking Archive. Before my friends know it, they're drawing 4 to 6 cards on their turn and their milling 4 to 6 cards on my turn. Can't play a deck if there is no deck to play with. MUAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Defender? If I'm not mistaken, it is a WALKING archive. Still cool though.

I am not a big fan of giving my opponents gas, and they could even take this thing out before you get a draw pretty easy, while replacing there removal with an extra card.

This is another severe case of "Love the flavor, hate tha card" for me.

If only this had a cost of 2, didn't have defender or at least was 2/2.
As an artifact creature it's more fragile to removal than Howling Mine, so i don't like having to pay 3,
especially since it still lets your opponent draw the card first. It's a 2 for 1 trade (or merely a 1 for 0 trade) when your opponent casts a removal spell in his/her next turn.

At least you can add the counters on instant speed, so you get the first extra card when you make it grow.
Still, it wouldn't have hurt to reduce some of the costs, or let it attack (since getting this big is very costy).

It should be a fun Commander card, though.

@Mode: It is 2/2. It's a 1/1 with a +1/+1 counter.

Hmm. Which guild has to do with +1/+1 counters and card draw?
