If it was only cheaper or able to create colored mana, then it would be more useful.
E.g.
"Tap:Add one mana to your mana pool of the same color as target legendary permanent you control."
Or simply:
"Tap: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool."
If the latter was the case, this could also have found great use with Legendary Lands.

Like this, as mana accel it doesn't help this much, since only very few legendary permanents you control are worth tapping for 1 anyways...

Actually this is an amazing combo piece with Leyline of Singularity and has lots of potential in Extended. It basically turns Umezawa's Jitte into a colorless mana (since tapping the Jitte doesn't affect its ability to equip or use its activated abilities anyway), and it also turns the Leyline itself into a colorless mana.

This is currently a unique source of colorless mana, nothing else does what it does, it should deserve more.

Caution: The Ceremonial Baseball Bat of Kings may cause you to believe that tapping a Legendary for one colorless mana is a great deal. Do not be fooled! You have to tap three Legendaries just to get back what you spent on the thing.
It hadn't occurred to me until I read a previous post that it's great for Legendary equips and such that don't care if they're tapped or not, and that that Leyline card would turn all your monsters into mana, but... It's still a little tenuous.
Also, because it needed to be said; The Shaku is being attracted to the debris, and for now it looks like their numbers probably aren't going to decrease!
(Small correction; Apologies, it is indeed flat. So it's a Ceremonial Cricket Bat of Kings)

Is it just me or does this Shaku looks like the spanking bat those fraternity hazers use?

Say what you want... This is awesome in my Captain Sisay EDH. It works great with Day of Destiny, Sword of Kaldra, Shield of Kaldra, Helm of Kaldra, Hall of the Bandit Lord, gains you infinite mana with Reveillark, Saffi Eriksdotter and a sac effect that can be used indefinitely (infinite life, if Claws of Gix provide the sac effect). Admittedly, it's uses are limited, but it can be awesome and sometimes even a gamechanger. I never regreted drawing that card in EDH.

Yeah, it's a paddle, not a cricket bat. That's why it taps things.

"Talking out of turn: that's a paddlin'. Staring at my sandals: that's a paddlin'. Paddlin' the school canoe: Ooooh, you better believe that's a paddlin!"

i enjoy the thought of a bunch of legendary people spanking everyone they know with this to provide energy to their planeswalker-in-chief.

Ooooh!!! This creates a use for Untaidake, the Cloud Keeper, as you could tap the land to get one mana to use on anything! That almost justifies the land's drawbacks

Lol jk, this sucks

@Kageyaiba: It also works great in my Reki, the History of Kamigawa EDH deck. Any time when the majority of your permanents are going to be legendary, it's swell.

Not saying this is a five star card or anything but it should get at least a 3.5 for modern functionality and johnnyability. Current rating is pitiful

ordinarily, this would be considered fine. BUT, this is 1/5 because you must tap a legendary card to untap this again.... That is the DUMBEST thing imaginable. Sure, you could build your deck around legendary swords/enchantments, but let's face it. Most legendaries are creatures, and virtually NONE of them would rather tap for mana than do what they ordinarily do.
