Awesomely awesome. Krark's Thumb and flip at least two. I would love to just randomly play this in a deck without the Thumb, because it's simply really cool. Then again, the dissappointment could be bad too...

The Thumb makes you IGNORE one, so two flips arent quite granted

The first and only time I used this, I got all 3 flips. The potential is definitely worth the mana.

Ha, I love cards like this. Epic if it works, no real penalty if it doesn't, a great card for red.

If you win this use your untaped lands to play Promise of Power

Yep, if you win 3 flips, you get each effect.

It's easty to make this work. Say "not edge" every time and you'll win if you're not Harvey Dent, and if you are, just say "heads" every time.

This card is pure win. Great fun, no doubt about that.

So, if I win three flips in a row, do the previous two effects happen as well, or do I just get the nine cards and the untap?

EDIT: Then this is basically the most powerful red spell in the game, and maybe the most powerful spell in the game period, when you look at the mana cost/effect ratio. The only thing standing between you and an insane amount of power is a little luck. Great card.

I love this card, and I got lucky my first play too. Depending on how far I want to push it, I sometimes stop at 2 but not always.

does your opponent have a chance to sacrafice target creature after you start flipping?

I did some simulation on this card, and here's what I came up with, using 10 million iterations with a pseudo-random coin flip. I know the probability math is easy with no Krark's Thumbs in play, but when you start adding thumbs the math becomes nontrivial. Easier to simulate via computer, for me anyway.

Going for the Lightning Bolt effect (1 win) then stopping:
50% success
50% failure

Going for the Breath of Malfegor effect (2 wins) then stopping:
25% success
75% failure

Going for the ultimate (3 wins) then stopping:
12.5% success
87.5% failure

The fun begins when you add Krark's Thumb to the mix.

Going for 1 win:
75% success
25% failure

Going for 2 wins:
56.25% success
43.75% failure

Going for 3 wins:
42.2% success
57.8% failure

Now let's try with two Krark's Thumbs and a Mirror Gallery.

Going for 1 win:
93.75% success
6.25% failure

Going for 2 wins:
87.9% success
12.1% failure

Going for 3 wins:
82.4% success
17.6% failure

As you can see, the probability of hitting the ultimate effect improve greatly with multiple Thumbs on the board. Try Tinker, Fabricate, etc etc to find those crucial artifacts if you want to succeed consistently with this. Otherwise, just throw it in and have a blast like I do. I give it 4.88/5.

Go for 3: on average deal 1 damage, draw 1 card, gain 1/2 a mana
Go for 2: on average deal 2.25 damage
Go for 1: on average deal 1.5 damage

No options are worth it. Need to combine with other coin flip cards to get more mileage. Then it's awesome.

I want to say it's a vulshok in the image, but they always seem to be in red/orange light, and even then, the subject seems really.... rational for a vulshok.

What am I really looking at in the art? Aside from the obvious: Amazingness.

Krark's Thumb has been mentioned. Mirror Gallery to get out multiple Thumbs has been mentioned. But no-one mentioned Goblin Bookie? Cheep, non-legendary, works great with Krark's Thumb, just a natural with this card.

Krark's Thumb breaks this-

@piechart- it doesnt double the number of flips you RESOLVE because you ignore half of them, but it DOES massively increase the odds of winning each flip.

50-50 chance of beating a regular coin.
with 1 Thumb, you flip twice and ignore 1. If you call heads, you flip twice, and you can only lose if you get two tails. if you get two heads, you still have to ignore the second one.

Wizards needs to turn this card into a planeswalker.

So that's only about a 1/8 chance. I'd pay {2R} for a 1/8 chance at 9 cards

is it possible to Radiate this? radiate says the target spell that only targets a single target, and Fiery Gambit only targets the creature, and damages EACH player.
So if it can, would it also deal 6 smackeroos to each opponent for each creature there is in play (if the flips are all heads)?

If so, my Tibor and Lumia EDH is going to whoop!

@ Ava_Adore
If your flipping already, that means your spell resolved and they have to wait till everything happens before they can add anything onto the stack. So no.

@spoonish
yes, you can radiate it as there is only 1 target.

@Nathreet: That gives me an idea for an Un-set card, specifically an enchantment that replaces all random events with their expected values. This will probably lead to sacrificing half a permanent on some other cards, but hey, un-set.

On its own its incredibly unreliable. Spending 3 mana for 3 damage to creature only at sorcery speed is incredibly terrible. Pushing for 2 flips, odds say that you will lose. But 3 damage to a creature and 6 damage for an opponent is very good. If you can pull off 3 in a row without using the thumb, then you deserve to draw 9 cards and untap all lands.

So for 1 win it blows, 2 wins its powerful, and 3 wins it ends game.

"Draw nine cards". Hoo boy. Granted the luck required is a little steep, but still...

If there was ever a card that made you want to practice flipping coins.

Honestly, there is a pretty mean deck somewhere with a master coin flipper, this, chance encounter, and any card that has "flip until you fail'

Oh, and a second to the idea of a pure 'luck' planeswalker where most abilities have flips.
