A little pricey to play and kinda sucks that it dosen't come with flying stuck on it. paying 1U every time you want this guy to fly seems like a lot of mana wasted.

This guy wants to be like Patagia Golem, except it has 1 colorless less with a blue mana needed to make it fly.

I feel like this card would be more competitive if the ability cost Blue instead of 1 Blue .

Piffle! Just play this guy in affinity and you'll never need the 1U for anything else anyways!

OK kidding aside, yeah not the best. Nowhere near the best. But I guess even Mirrodin needed to have its share of junk cards. At least the flavor text is pretty cool, and the idea of seeing this just up and flying away is pretty funny.

Sooo....does he jump really high or something?

@FIiveEight, my theory is that he temporarily transforms into Spire Golem (cc 6, flying.) It seems all of the metal golems have a counterpart like that.

I have a playset of this guy and use it, because flavorwise its one of my favourites.

And it is a relevant tribe.

Part of a cycle of golems from Mirrodin, each with a colored activated ability that cost 1C:

White Titanium Golem (first strike)
Blue Cobalt Golem (flying)
Black Pewter Golem (regenerate)
Red Hematite Golem (+2/+0)
Green Malachite Golem (trample)

Darksteel would mirror this with its own Affinity-flavored five:

White Razor Golem (vigilance)
Blue Spire Golem (flying)
Black Dross Golem (fear)
Red Oxidda Golem (haste)
Green Tangle Golem (no ability, just big)

This card is pretty mediocre, as it is overcosted for its size and its activation costs slightly too much. It could jump up and block a flyer or two, or swing in for a few damage, but it's nothing to write home about.
