This card is a very useful tool in a beginner deck. It is essentially tapping a land and getting two on a turn, plus the ability to block.

Oh god the art in this version is hideous.

A hand with 3 of these, 3 forests, and Amulet of Vigor.

I used to play this in a G/W Convoke Deck, the positive effect of this card is having 3 permanents in Round 1.

So i used to try something like this:

Turn 1: Forest, this guy + Land + Ornithopter 4 Permanents
Turn 2: Land + Scatter the Seeds

This gives you Round 3 the opportunity to cast Convoke Cards for up to 8 Mana (Chord of Calling, Kavu Primarch, Conclave Phalanx,
Siege Wurm, and so on...)

Especially with Chord of Calling you could do some wicked stuff, imagine playing a Mycoloth round three gobbling up all of the creatures => 14/14 Mycoloth giving birth to 10 Saprolings a round... all all because of this card :D

And you could do this with instant speed, so just use chord of calling Round 3 before you upkeep...
