@console gamer: No, it's not better than Healing Salve since a) you need to control a permanent with CMC > 3 in order to gain more life than you would with Healing Salve and b) Healing Salve can also prevent damage to creatures or players which can be a useful combat trick.
That said, this card only really fits in very specific decks (maybe Lifegain decks or decks that abuse high CMC); also it's very useful in multiplayer since you can target as many players as you want.
Personally I prefer Healing Salve over this in all other cases. However, this can definitely be a very handy card, plus the art is very funny.

Hunters' Feast for similar multiplayer madness, except it costs and gains a set 6 life. And it's a sorcery. Yeah, I'd rather play this card; if it's in a deck, it will be geared to getting the most out of it.

MULTIPLAYER POLITICS.

This reminds me of a free join forces type card that is very political. If you're using Gilded Drake, Bazaar Trader, and Goblin Welder in a Zedruu, the Greathearted deck. When multiplayer games are large enough, players need to decide who will ally with them based on personal preferences & deck capabilities. Think of it like this: out of everybody playing, which ones do you want to go down last vs you? Ally with them. Donate to them and give them spirit tokens with Forbidden Orchard, etc. People do this already on MMORPG's...because no one person is an army. There isn't much that Armageddon, Wrath of God or Mindslaver can't fix one on one later with your ally-turned-sole-enemy. In commander, this easily gains 5-6 life per chosen player for , not bad, but most wouldn't put it on an Isochron Scepter without Well of Lost Dreams, however. Just consider the cost of this vs the potential...
