Stack it with Thorn of Amethyst.

The flavor text was intentional insult to injury for everyone who was upset about Legions' all-creature theme.

I am very happy with this creature ability. The old adage was, all creatures or all spells, you cannot win. This creature ability tips that scale!

This does not combo with Gaddock Teeg. The converted mana cost of the spell is what is printed on the card itself. Making 3-mana spell cost 1 more does not fall under Gaddock Teeg's static ability.

The Glowrider goes a little slower.

Soooooo close to making a metagame impact in vintage. Just cost one-too-many, since 2 mana is the key spell cost in T1 (land + mox). Otherwise, it's just too slow.

Actually this guy does 'combo' fairly well with Gaddock Teeg, but only because they cover two different threats. This guy slows down any deck that tries to generate storm from cheap 1cc spells, and Teeg protects you from bombs like Ad Nauseam. Of course, Thorn of Amethyst is just gravy, but I'd rather not run it -- you really only need so much redundant disruption.

they wanted to print Thalia, Guardian of Thraben by that time, but glowrider prevented them: "It's not yet time"

Not quite outdated by Thalia, as you can have multiple copies on the battlefield to stack the ability. Not a good body on this guy, though.

Well, he costs 1 more than Thalia and comes without first strike, but he isn't legendary, so you can potentially make noncreature spells cost 5 more with four of these guys and Thalia together. Also he has some of the best flavor text I've ever seen. 4/5

Glowrider ***es me off. All of his songs are about partying, and he has zero personality. His use of Dead or Alive's "You Spin Me Round" for his atrocious song "Right Round" with Ke$ha makes me so angry...

...oh GLOWrider. Slows non-creature decks down, and released in a set where there were, well, a ton of creatures. With the proper support this could make leaving mana open for removal a much more annoying proposition, particularly since once it has hit the table, suddenly that Terror immediately costs 2Black.

Needs a reprint. I'd like to play both him and Thalia in Modern and watch so many decks squirm.

I think I prefer this to Thalia mostly because you can stack these. Lots of fun with mox diamond and weathered wayfarer/tithe/land tax for card advantage and pressuring your opponants to play lands forcing tax triggers! Definitely better than it looks! 3.5/5
