so you can change their scragnoth to have protection from red instead.

kinda... you could only do that while scrag is on the stack because at that point and only that point could he be targeted by blue spells or abilities. but then what, what was the point... so you could bounce him so that next turn you couldnt counter him again?
not really a horrible card but definatley situational. possible sideboard material in right deck, against right deck.

Use it on creatures in play that already have protection. Tune your creatures with protection against their colours and turn their creature's protection so it won't be effective against your deck.

What a neat card.

This + Blue Elemental Blast and Red Elemental Blast = destroy anything, or counter it before it comes into play...for 2 mana. Anyone know of a card with a similar effect?

there are many awesome cards to combine with this, depending on your deck. as mentioned, lifeforce and deathgrip are great, as is absolute law, akroma's memorial, any of the scarabs from ice age, bad moon, Wrath of Marit Lage, Llawan, Cephalid Empress, Spellbane Centaur, and Grand Arbiter Augustin IV... the list could go on and on. When you throw in CoP, wards and runes, you could make a wicked-tough blue and white deck...

Hmm... I should get on that.

Not quite rendered obsolete by Mind Bend, which has more flexibility but only affects permanents. Not as good as Spectral Shift, even with the increased cost. Unless you have specific spells in mind to alter (like Seedtime) and need the low cost you're probably better off running Bend or Shift instead of this.

Regardless, this is a fun little spell and the genesis of many a budding Johnny. It's always fun to watch a deck built with this card, Magical Hack, Whim of Volrath, and Mind Bend. Even if you lose, it's probably going to be in some really creative way. For general play though this card is a little too difficult to use effectively.

@Villano137: That combo doesn't actually work, because Blue Elemental Blast and Red Elemental Blast both require the target to be Red/Blue on declaration, before Sleight of Mind can be cast. However, it does work with Hydroblast and Pyroblast, which have the all-important "if" clause in there that let them target any spell or permanent, but only do something if it is the right color.

The other day I used this and Mind Bend to change Circu, Dimir Lobotomist's abilities to red and green in an EDH game where he was the general. My opp. was not pleased.

Do not underestimate the value of mucking up your opponent's color synergy! It's not just about stopping Perish and the like. Think Omnath, Locus of Blue Mana!

Ass Whuppin', replace "silver" with "black".

Then destroy all cards in the games played next to you.
