Amazing card. Sideboard staple, in my opinion. Slows red burn to a crawl...bolts not cost 3...gang commanders cost 7...this card is also really strong since its blue so can be targeted by effects such as Sleight of Mind to work against any deck. That's a really fun deck type to build... 4 stars.

The ultimate nightmare for Red.

Really fun when you get more than one out in a game, also fun in multiplayer.

I hate this card. If you look back in my comments, you can find me saying that I hate these mean color-hosers, but of all of them, this was the only one ever directly used on me. How does this make for fun gameplay? I just hate cards that are like "if you play this color, you lose." If you're playing monored, you just can't do anything about this at all.

You have heard of Pyroblast, right? That takes care of your problem pretty quickly.

@Token: I would more say....that this card singlehandedly requires you to actually need Enchantment Destruction.

There are powerful Enchantments in the game, yes. And plenty of them are parts of Fast Combo Decks. But Red can deal large amounts of damage quickly, Especially if you own a Mox Ruby. Red shouldn't mind just non-interactively Racing Combo Decks for damage.

But this card, and a small few others of CMC 2 or less that are Horrible Control Dickwheels, (mainly Artifacts and Lands), mean that even though Red CAN try risking ignoring the Combo Win Condition type of Enchantment, like Oath of Druids or something, what it CAN'T safely ignore is anything that smacks of Sphere of Resistance.

Otherwise Red would just play Smelt or Shattering Spree next to Lightning Bolt.

Boil for example, is made unplayable by this card, and that's pretty damn horrible to contemplate. Chill being able to outrace Boil for Tempo is just Nuts.

Red plays those Blasts that destroy permanents for two main reasons: Countering Counterspells, and getting rid of stall-the-game-cards, but USUALLY Enchantments are not Red's primary concern, even though they're something they can't kill on their own. That's part of why Red is such a good color: it's main weakness doesn't bite it in the butt as often as the other colors' weaknesses do.

Better yet because red has very few/expensive spells to get rid of enchantments, and this makes them even more expensive!!! Might as well read "target opponent playing sligh concedes the game."
