Assume his ability if targeting a player would count as commander damage?

Probably the best of or of the best God's in terms of what they do as an enchantment alone. Keranos synergies with small burn spells like shock and magma jet, b/c he can combine with them to take out bigger threats later with his repeatable 3. The card advantage from the lands make top decking one feel so good :)

@Bryanfear: Commander damage is defined as only combat damage dealt by the commander.
@bryanfear Commander damage is only combat damage. Any damage outside of combat by commanders does not count.

This guy is one of those cards that you can just set-it-and-forget-it. He doesn't do much, but what more do you want? You hardly have to build around him, he's just value all around.

a very well-designed card. he scales to the type of deck you're playing. have a lot of lands? you probably wanted to draw cards anyway. aggressive with only a few lands? you probably wanted to bolt anyway.

Compare Staff of Nin. I think 1 card + 1 damage is somewhat better than 40% 1 card + 60% 3 damage, although Keranos does cost one less. This assumes you don't allow him to be a creature.

I don't know but this seems really good as a commander.
Even granted that his ability doesn't count as commander damage he still gives some degree of inevitability as well as card draw. That being said though, using the damage ability might make people turn on you...

Dude, Keranos is JACKED! Do they have P90X up in the land of Nyx?
Jokes aside I have a love-hate thing going on for this guy. On one side, he just adds free lightning bolts or an extra card draw...That's pretty sweet. On the other side, that's the extent of it. His abilities can't really be built around to the extent of the other gods. He's not bad by any means, I'm just always left asking "now what?"

At first glance, seems awesome. Extra draw every turn, with the only downside being that the draw will occasionally be a free Lightning Bolt (actually its a Lightning Strike, considering that this is Keranos). He's got the weakest p/t to cmc ratio for a god and is in the colors that will probably have the hardest time making him into a creature, so don't rely on that.
But wait. 5 cmc enchantment that draws an extra card every turn? Already exists in one of his colors (Honden of Seeing Winds). And for just one more mana you can get it in any color, and with other upsides like draw and damage, as well as no legendary clause (Staff of Nin). And there's actually less ways to abuse Keranos-the others work with Paradox Haze, while there's no way to make Keranos get you more than one card per turn cycle short of taking extra turns, which works with the other anyway.
I guess you could argue that he works well with Scry but most of the time you're just using that to make him closer to the consistency of the Honden. Which leaves the only advantage he has that he can become a creature-but with his mediocre stats for a god and poor colors for that, it's not exactly ideal.
At least he doesn't want you to have creatures like 11 of the other 14 gods do, including the mono blue and blue-black one...

This card is pretty bad. You have to reveal all of the cards you draw, which helps your opponent prepare for any surprises you are trying to set up.

You don't have to reveal all the cards you draw, only the first one you draw on your turn. Get lots of instant draw effects to refuel at the end of your opponent's turn and you'll be fine. Plus, revealing a few of your draws is a fun way to play mind games.

What a nice general. Obvously hard to remove, like all other gods, and no draw is a dead draw.

My thoughts exactly @anotherfan321. Went to my first prelease yesterday and got this guy - which I must admit I didn't even try using, and I regret it because my aggro deck got stomped by black/white. Anyway, for his colors, what's to dislike? Even if your Izzet style doesn't cater to making him a creature with board state, he's still superb. Excellent flavor in this card and definitely very powerful. Flavor-wise I love devotion, too. Worship your God enough and they will join you for battle! My own Izzet deck welcomes him with open arms like the Father of Storms he is. 4.5/5

There's a lot of scrying going on in the Theros block, and especially a lot in blue and red. If you can get Keranos down, you can nicely set yourself up to make sure the extra effect you want is the card on top of your deck.
I'm considering building a standard deck around this and Flamespeaker Adept with that in mind.

This guy won me quite a few matches in the pre-release on Sunday. Combining him with some scrying that I also had in the deck I was able to set up a decent amount of good plays.

Want it. Play in a scry heavy deck and you're giving away minimal tactical advantage by revealing cards, plus getting card advantage every single turn, if not zapping chump blockers or 3 to the opponents face. Very fun.

His ability should be "Reveal the first card you draw on each turn." I mean it is red blue and you can very easily get/most likely get cards in every turn and not even your own ones. Otherwise I really like him. His abilities suit his flavour and colours and he doesn't rely on having other creatures out to be useful.

This is really sweet but not terribly good for the common Izzet deck. I'm sure there are plenty of midrange decks that would love to play this guy I mean, damn. -He's a 6/5 for 5 (sometimes) -He does something very useful every turn regardless. The best thing about him is how well he fits into that midrange tank category. Late game you want value out of your draws to play your large spells. Drawing lands is not optimal for most decks in this category, but this guy gives you an extra card for it! Sure, it might be a land card as well, but I'd rather draw 2 lands in 1 turn than 2 lands in 2 turns. He can additionally burn away blockers or just ping your opponent down even as an enchantment. While I think that he could have cost 1 less, he's still quite solid at 5 and is certainly one of the better gods. 4/5
Anyone who says this card is bad because it "reveals every card you draw" clearly doesn't understand red-blue. You you use blue scry effects to pick which card is revealed, to limit enemy knowledge and use the effect you want, simultaneously. Additionally, if you reveal a land, you draw an extra unseen card, which isn't really an advantage for the opponent. If you reveal a spell, you get to bolt! How great is that? Also, you are playing Blue-Red, meaning you're going to either go fast, control, or both. None of these strategies really care that the opponent knows your next trick. "Oh hey, look, it's a lightning bolt. Bolt ya with Keranos, then bolt ya with the bolt!" In that scenario it hardly matters that your opponent knew what spell you were playing five seconds before you played it. My only criticism of this guy is that his devotion effect might not activate often. However, since red has a lot of little creatures, rather than permanents that cost a lot of colorless filler, it may happen quicker than you'd think.

Honden of Seeing Winds is completely different from this. That card isn't indestructible. That card doesn't become a creature. That card doesn't deal 3 damage. Same with Staff of Nin. Remember that all you need to have out for this to be a creature is Dominus of Fealty.
Also, mediocre stats? In comparison to what? How many of the gods have higher power than this guy? Iroas, Mogis, and that's it. Don't forget that he is indestructible, which means that it barely ever matters how much toughness he has.

Agree with whoever said that it needed to be "Reveal the first card you draw on each turn", something like the Miracles. Well, with some convolute wording it could have even been on every draw. Something like: "If you would draw a card, reveal it instead. If it's a nonland card Lightning Bolt then draw that card. If it's a land card, draw 2 cards." Note that it's not a endless loop, Blood Scrivener uses a similar template... Not that it's something that I'd like, I think that simply the miracle version would have been just perfect! 3.5/5
However, I wonder what it's up between the creative team and gods. Onslaught Block: Karona, False God Kamigawa Block: well, gods everywhere! Ravnica Block: there were the Nephilim, that were some kind of god if I recall right. Llorwyn Block: 10 demigods. Zendikar Block: 3 gods that actually are some of the biggest and badassest (I know it's not actually a word...) creature in the whole multiverse. Innistrad Block: Avancyn wasn't exactly a goddess, but almost. A lot of people prayed for her... Theros Block: well...

@Bray you know what else forces you to reveal the card you "draw"? A couple of real turds come to mind: Dark Confidant,Gifts Ungiven,Fact or Fiction,Ad Nauseam,Enlightened Tutor,Mystical Tutor even stuff like Survival of the Fittest...
You know, cards that are either banned or extremely powerful in formats they can be played in.
