Somewhat average, but there are better large flyers in the game that don't require upkeep costs.

Pretty good if running a haste engine. However, this card HAS to win when its dropped in order to be viable. Id give two-3 turns for that if your playing red blue control and only having this and 1 or 2 other creatures as win cons.
Some pretty big power for back in the day. The upkeep will mean it's only going to stick around for probably two or three turns however (even extra land on the field won't help much, with 8 land down you need 4 each of islands and mountains or else some sort of duals).

It can still do some damage even if you only get to use it twice... would have been way better if it had haste though...

It's always a shame seeing such good art being wasted on less-than-playable cards.

Why is it part blue, anyway?

Red-blue hellkites, at an early stage, are more brutal than P/T can gauge: this can trample and fly 'til your mana runs dry 'cause the bastard wears poorly with age.
...This is, still, the only 6+/6+ flying trampler you can play for or less (ignoring Eater of Days for the moment), but cumulative upkeep sinks it by the third age counter or so...

This card is so underrated, by old days in Visions it was fervor...that simple combo could ruin your enemy's life points in 3 turn...just the same numbers of turns that you could pay the cumulative upkeep

Colored cumulative upkeep is rough. I mean, {R}{U} seems easy enough, but then its {R}{R}{U}{U} then its dead unless you had uberfixing!

I snap blocked my opponent's Greater Werewolf with this guy once. It was worth it to be playing a Mtenda 6/4.

Is it Niv-Mizzet's less-intelligent cuz? Eon Hub worthy? Naw...

The cu isn't that bad, how long do you really need a 6/6 flying trampler outside EDH?
