What the f**k was wrong with the illustrator?! Geez, it's not like werewolves grow outta people's bodies like some sort of parasitic aliens, you know. Ugh.

I like the art. The card wasn't so bad back in the day, but really stinks now.

I could see this being reprinted in a core set. I mean it's not actually that bad at all.

it does 4 damage.. but 2 stays... note that it doesn't need to deal damage for this to happen. I always liked this card =3

I want more Lycanthropes in this game.

Hmm. Now I might be wrong about this but... Doesn't it still have to be alive when combat ends to give the -0/-2 counters?

No, if Greater Werewolf blocks (or is blocked) by a 4/4, Greater Werewolf's ability intiates a delayed triggered ability. Once combat ends, the triggered ability resolves, and the 4/4, who sustained 2 damage from Greater Werewolf, will receive a -0/-2 counter from the delayed triggered ability, and die.

Arglypuff & Apeefomenom, CrystalKeep says: "This ability is played at end of combat so it only works if it is still alive at that time. "
This is actually how Sword of Body and Mind creates wolves from its user.
This art would have been alot better if the mouths were connected. If so it would help convey the werewolf theme of a split being with split desires. As is it looks like a white weenie swung SoBM.
It'd be awsome to have a flip card (like from Kamigawa) that is a white weenie on one end and a black beatstick on another with a werewolf flavor.

I don't know why everyone hates the Thing-esque artwork. Wouldn't use it in a deck, but I do have soft spot for it.

I also don't understand why some magic players hate this old school art--I guess a lot of sensitive Yu-Gi-Oh kids also play MTG.

@ Arglypuff
This is not a delayed triggered ability. The Greater Werewolf does indeed have to be in play for its ability to go on the stack at the end of combat.

An early form of Wither, sort of. I guess it is technically greater than the Lesser Werewolf, but that's really pushing it.

This card is just plain d*mn weird. Everything about it. -0/-2 counters, a wolf if ripping it's way out of Leonidas's head. No less than 4.5 stars if only for it's oddness.

That's some ugly art, and its ability isn't all that, either. It's essentially a 4/4 for 5, with a weird version of infect.
Not totally worthless, though.

Weird counter type. What's the flavor of that? Deep wounds that don't heal? The art is disturbing and cool too.

Scary art. At least this has got 4 toughness and can deal "4 damage" to creatures, and permanently weaken the ones that it cant kill. Actually a pretty solid card for homelands.

It's a weird card. It can kill something with 4 toughness, but only if it survives the combat, so it's like it has Second Strike or something. Of course, it only does 2 damage if unblocked. In exchange for that, 2 of its damage is permanent...

It'd be playable if it cost 4 mana.
