If WotC hadn't been *** stupid and ruined their iconic look, slivers wouldn't have resembled humans to begin with.

Probably the worst of the M14 slivers. Even Veteran Armorsmith was a common, and it cost WhiteWhite.

I hate the new look too.

There are so many better slivers than this in this set. There's not really ever going to be a reason to run this.

I really like the art for this one, even if it doesn't scream "Sliver" to me. Toughness, I'm cool with.

A 2/3 for 3 is acceptable for limited. But the buff it gives to other slivers is really bad. Sliver decks are normally aggressive creature based decks (in rare cases combo decks). Giving one toughness to your slivers doesn't fit into the "aggressive creature deck" role, and thus doesn't help the sliver decks.

Terrible new direction for slivers. Just terrible.

Honestly, the art looks similar to some kind of Phyrexian thing from New Phyrexia. It's body kind of reminds me of Blade Splicer, which is kind of ironic: They both are boosters of a mediocre sub-type in the set.

@ Ferlord Please, just don't. Don't compare this and Blade Splicer. The splicer was four P/T and card advantage for three mana. In a standard environment rife with way to abuse the EtB. This is a Regal Unicorn with tribal relevancy.

Pretty awful compared with Plated Sliver. 2 mana for +1/+1? No thanks.

I'm going to have to hope that this cards RIDICULOUSLY low rating (seriously, its lower than freaking cyclops tyrant as I write this) is due to the hate for the new slivers and not its actual usefulness.

You have no idea how useful this guy is in a sliver deck. People say this is only a defensive ability but it helps a tonne on the offense too.

You: Turn 2, Predatory sliver
Them: Turn 2, Random bear

You: ***... well I'm not trading my sliver for that... oh wait, Steelform Sliver says I don't have to. Bash
Them: Why didn't I shock when I had the chance.

Its obviously not the greatest sliver out there, but the Veteran Armorer effect always has been and always will be very useful. Very easy 3/5

Second-worst of the new slivers, with Sliver Construct landing the bottom spot.

I give this credit for cool flavor text

I hope we all realize, we've rated this worse than Sliver Construct. Which means the community would rather a 2/2 sliver that does absolutely nothing for 3 than one that boosts your entire team.

Not that I'm saying I like it. It's one of my least favorites. But, come on, guys ;)

That's not a sliver.

It's not that granting toughness is bad (though gaining power is usually better). It was fine on Plated Sliver. The problem with this card is just that it's overcosted, plain and simple.

I think people are judging this too harshly. No, it doesn't look like the slivers of eld you're used to. But that's the whole point of the M14 slivers -- and I think it really works. Their strength was always their rapid "evolution" so to speak, and just like monkeys eventually became humans, the little beaked prawns from 15 years ago (our time) have collectively evolved into the slivers in the M14 set. I rate this one a 3 or 3.5, but overall I personally LOVE the look and feel of the new slivers.

Leaving behind your biases, which as one other commentator pointed out are probably the reasoning behind the ridiculously low rating of this card, this guy isn't THAT bad. The flavor text makes it clear that the slivers have to some extent "chosen" (for lack of a better word) to take on a more hominid form. Why is that so unbelievable? They've been able to sprout wings, get huge, and do all sorts of other things within the course of ONE GAME.

Do you need 4 of them in a constructed standard sliver deck? Absolutely not. But they have their uses, and in limited these guys have helped me out more than once. Obviously the +1/+1 of the Predatory Sliver is a better bonus, and he's cheaper. But sometimes you just don't have a forest in your first few turns.

This card's not strong because of its own ability, but in a Sliver deck, it'll be another body that's getting the buffs from all your other Slivers while adding its own little bonus. It's no Sinew Sliver, but it'll be nice to have in draft Sliver decks and playable even outside of that.

At least now its rating has finally overtaken Sliver Construct's.
