SCRYing for lands will help improve chances of this triggering. Crystal Ball, Index, and Mystic Speculation will help you get the most out of this.

ERMAHGERD, Zendikar flavor text, although, the way it works with landfall, makes me ponder if this was in the Zendikar Design file, and the simply couldn't find a spot for it until now.

Potentially very useful for ramping or thinning your deck of excess lands, and it doesn't even give away any information to your opponent as you look instead of reveal.

A harder to kill Oracle of Mul Daya.

Try using it; this is very slow, too slow for Standard at least.

Hmmm, well, if you can stack your library it's ok. If you can't, it's not that good.
Turn 4, you play this (without accel).
Turn 5, in the average, this gives you a land. So far, it's worse than a rampant growth, because it didn't let you choose the land, costs twice as much, and does it's job three turns after rampant growth.
Turn 8, you get your second land. Now it's about as good as exploration, which also fetches two lands. Though exploration lets you choose the lands, and works on turn 4, instead of on turn 5 and 8.
Turn 11, you get your third land.

So... Without library stacking, it's not very good. Or in other words:
- it doesn't get you the lands you need, so it doesn't fix the colors you want to get fixed
- it's very slow
- the more land fetchers you have in your deck, the worse this card gets, because with each land fetcher played, the chance of this doing anything becomes smaller
- it doesn't work well in multiples, because if the top card of your library is a non-land, then all copies of this card will reveal the same card over and over

In limited it's better, since you have there a much higher percentage of lands in the deck.

Free land drops every turn? Flavor text from Zendikar? I wonder what mechanic would work well with this? I truly wonder indeed...

Landfall will be back in Theros. You heard it here first, folks.

The thing about oracle of mul daya that I like more is that it can get you a card the turn you play it. This card has to sit a turn.

Playing control and using green? This is your friend. Nothing is worse than drawing mana when you need a threat or an answer, and this (usually) solves that problem.

@majinara I'm not sure where you were going with exploration and fetching land??? Exploration plays on turn one and let's you play an additional land on each of your turns. It is one of the best ramping enchantments in the game. As for this card it will see a lot of love in landfall decks where it will be surrounded by a lot of deck manipulation. This card is very zendikar and at its worst its an oracle of mul daya with no revealing.

Consistent ramping potential that should only be used in extremely high curves with an abundance of creatures with 6 cmc or higher.

This will definitely be an EDH star. The only thing I can think of where you wouldn't want something like this is maybe in a Borborygmos Enraged deck. I'm not certain that it is playable in many other formats though due to its cost and speed of function. There might even be better things in EDH but I really like this because you still get your lands but they never have to enter your hand which I think is the best thing about this.

Also: it doesn't say BASIC. It just says land. It works with shock lands, speed lands, check lands, filter lands, fetch lands, man lands, ALL THE LANDS! So in EDH turning over an Evolving Wilds or Terramorphic Expanse could be kind of nice because you didn't waste you turn drawing or playing that but still get the fixing and you aren't even really out a land drop either.

I'm trying to gauge this thing in sealed deck. Anyone tried it? Will the advantage you get when drawing it early outweigh the low usefulness when you draw it towards the end of the game?

Whew... this is tough.

At first you have Oracle of Mul Daya. A decent creature with a great creature type and a very good effect.
And then there's this...

The question is, which is better?

Pros for this:
- Enchantments are harder to destroy than creatures.
- You don't have to have the top card of your library revealed. This can keep your deck secret while also not painting a massive target on your face (like if you reveal a Blightsteel Colossus...)
- This doesn't count towards the land count. You can still play your other lands after this without penalty.

Cons:
- Oracle was an elf. Elves have a lot of means of helping themselves out.
- You can't use the ability whenever you want. It would mean that you can't wait to play your Landfall creature and then play a land to optimize its effect.

Going into this comment, I thought Oracle would've been the clear winner, but upon comparison, it's now hard to say. The flexibility to when you get the land weighs heavier than the land count at first, but now that I think of it, I've lost games where I've revealed something powerful (like the aforementioned Colossus...).

As someone said before, THE PLOT THICKENS!!!

Question: if I have two of these in play, does it stack? Ie: can i look at the top two cards?

Utility:

At first glance, I compared this to Oracle of Mul Daya. This card does not look as powerful.. No body to beat with.. No two dropping lands on each turn.. Card advantage is much stronger with Oracle...

However, the bonus is that your top card is not revealed to your opponent and enchantments tend to stick around a little longer than creatures. This will give you good card advantage. I would consider running one or two in a Standard deck.

Overall Design:

The artwork has a lot of colours in it and it's a very nice looking card. The Flavour text is very fitting and it directly reference Oracle of Mul Daya which is a nice little easter egg. Very nicely designed card top to bottom.

Ramping is only half of what this card does. The other use is to filter the land draw off the top during your turn, so you can draw that fatty creature, or game ending spell instead.

If 24/60 cards in your deck are lands, this becomes a free card draw 40% of the time. Oh excuse me, free card draw and a free land.

Wow i completely blew this card off till rootkit9208 pointed out u will never topdeck mana again(unless theres a land under the land u put on the battlefield. Def try putting this in standard decks with green. Sylvan library is one of my favorite cards. This will have to do in standard. I think its more powerful than it looks. Dont deck yourself. Be careful.
EDIT: I started with this in some jund shells and yes, its bonkers. I never lose a game when it sticks. The card advantage is overwhelming. But i think his interaction with sire of insanity is interesting. When ur living on the top of your deck, u dont want lands.

Most everything I would say is a comparison to Oracle of Mul Daya and it all has been said already. Though I must say, being a fan of expensive creatures, this card really drove me wild.

Did you forget about a little gem called Primeval Bounty, every time you put a land into play you gain 3 life. That's worth mentioning. And if you can filter out your lands. Your're left with nothing but creatures and instants and sorceries (non creature spells). Both of which give you bonuses; 3/3 beasts and three +1/+1 counters on target creatures, accordingly! Add a few Advocate of the Beast and a few big creatures w/ trample and you get the idea.

Mathematically, this squares you chance of drawing a land. i.e. if your deck is say 1/3 lands, to draw a land their would have to be 2 in a row, which has a 1/9ish chance of happening. So it greatly increases your chance of getting a spell, and you get the lands too. On the odd 1/9 chance, you get 2 lands untapped in a turn. Its win-win. If they game will go 3 turns after this, its probably worth it.

I personally don't like this card very much. It seems like a draft or EDH card to me. If it were {1}{G}{G} and I could drop it turn 2, I would love it for constructed, but on turn 3 I want to be dropping something that will have a more immediate effect.

Strictly better than Rowen (unless you're drawing cards on opponents' turns).
