@nope.avi - It's to stop you from cheating. Note that almost every card that either rewards you for drawing a certain type of card or allows you to search your deck for a certain type states that you need to reveal it; that's to keep people from saying that they got a land, drawing a second card, then throwing out a different card.
Either way, revealing a land isn't going to break the game.
