It's hard for RDW to say no to a card like this.

People played Hammer of Bogardan, they'll play this. 3 damage per turn for 8, or 3 damage per turn for 5 conditional on an attacker getting through? I don't think that will be a problem. I especially like how he triggers off of his own bloodrush'd dude connecting.

Pyrewild Shaman, apply directly to the dome.

The fact that this keeps coming back even if it isn't being Bloodrushed makes me think this has a future in standard.

Pyrewild Shaman is interesting for standard. His overall stats are low for his mana cost and blood rush only works for attacking creatures. His ability to add him to your hand from graveyard is what makes him something. Only problem is that a creature you control has to deal combat damage. For that reason I am not a huge fan of him. 3.5/5

It's like Squee and Ball Lightning got mashed together.

I can't live in a format with Krenko, Mob Boss, one of the greatest goblins of all time, and Arms Dealer, an incredible creature obliterator and NOT HAVE TRIBAL GOBLINS EXIST AT ALL ARGUAGAUFS.

Grabbing a playset of this and making Red/Blue Goblins AND THERE AIN'T A THING ANYONE CAN DO ABOUT IT.

Squee, Goblin Nabob #2 in Commander.

A little harder to recur, but whatever.

It's somewhat similar to pyre zombie, both being three mana creatures with built-in recursion that have several ways to deal damage to opponents.

Advantages of Pyrewild Shaman:
- more forgiving mana cost
- better stats
- can deal more damage
- cheaper to use

Advantages of the Pyre Zombie:
- can directly kill creatures
- the recursion ability is not depending on creatures
- the damage ability is not depending on creatures

I personally like the pyre zombie more. Probably because of nostalgia reasons, but also because I like the concept of a small creature, that comes back every now and then, when you got the spare mana, to kill utility creatures.

It's the closest thing you can get to Seething Anger on standard. The fact that you can get it back as a creature is a plus.

You'll know he's coming, but he won't be stopped.

Reusable Bloodrush is good. A card in Standard or Modern that you can discard again and again to various things and get back most times is even better.

@jake1991 Actually, this card is at least the third, don't forget the auntie's snitch.

This card is the culmination of a couple of cards. Squee, the skarrgan firebird and the bogardan hammer.
As a side note, I like how he's worded in such a way that he doesn't trigger for his second ability a thousand times on magic online if you happen to hit with your army of saprolings.

A creature that consistently comes back from the graveyard is a wonderful addition to any deck that is consistently low on creatures. Too bad they made sure of the combat damage clause 4.5 - 5.
You won me matches in the draft but you're not a huge player in standard at the moment.

Pyrewild Shaman is a great utility creature for RDW, which always has mana lying around. Especially now when M13 goes out and RDW will lose Hellion Crucible. Great card to add to your goblin tribal deck.

I like that for 5RedRed you can Bloodrush him onto a double striker twice in one combat.

He also probably gets along well with Lotleth Troll.

Very cool card. It may not be strong, but this is definitely a cool rare. Not many sources to gain advantage in mono red. This is just a new one. 4.5/5

EDIT
Looking at him again, the fact that he is a 3/1 makes him really good. It means that if you have no creatures to play, he's a really aggressive option. I've grown quite fond of him. Upped my rating to 5/5.

{3} to stave off Liliana of the Veil if nothing else. It's nice that he's a recurring 3/1 with options. He can trade on curve or below, he can attack to activate other copies of himself, and he can recur to help RDW finish the game when you're just getting a measly 1/1 goblin through or something.

Bloodrush onto Anax and Cymede, repeat. Being able to constantly get Heroic buffs is great!

Fun with an unblocked Warren Instigator.

1. Attack with the Instigator.
2. Bloodrush this on the Instigator, which becomes a 4/2 with double strike.
3. Instigator deals 4 damage first strike. Pay 3 to return this to your hand, and put a Goblin into play from your hand. Bonus points if it's a +1/+1 lord.
4. Bloodrush this again. Instigator is now 7/3 (or 8/4 if you dropped a lord).
5. Instigator deals 7 (8) damage. If you have another goblin in hand, you may put it in play. Else, you may stack the triggers so that you pay 3 to get this back and then put it in play.

@Omega5614: I'm sad to say Bloodrush doesn't trigger Heroic because it's an ability, not a spell. Usually this is good, because Bloodrush can't be countered (except by spells that can counter abilities, which are rare and don't exist in Standard at the moment).

Heroic triggers only when a spell you control targets the heroic creature. It would be too overpowered if it triggered from abilities. There are many targeting abilities in Modern that cost zero. (Shuko and Lightning Greaves, for example.)
