This is a really solid card but it looks like red mana is being used to cast it.

I prefer the original artwork from Apocalypse instead. It showed the madness of Urza when he is fighting with Gerrard. That and the flavor text of the original version was more emotional. It was also the set with Vindicate, which has one the best flavor texts and art in the game. That whole set was sad for me.
The reason I think it is black and white is because in the fight between Gerrard and Urza are fighting, Urza is somewhat corrupted by Yawgmoth (I think), perverting his original paragon of justice self against the Phyrexians, making him lose his sanity and turn to dark magic to win the favor of Yawgmoth and slay Gerrard. The original art shows it way better.

No one does dynamic brutality better than Raymond Swanland. While I agree with Ragebarbarian that the old art was cool because it connected directly with the storyline, this art is better based on the quality of the artwork alone.
As for the card itself, incredibly flexible, and can serve many roles over the course of the game, 4,5 stars from me.

I give very few damns how weak this card is next to Sorin's Vengeance, compared to how Badass This Card Is.
This is like the Volley of Boulders of this Duel Deck, except about a full star and a half better than that card.

I like this card so much for the simple fact that unlike Corrupt, Consume Spirit, and any other variable creature/player drain effects, this doesn't force you into all black.

Cards like Ribbons of Night do a decent job but aren't quite the finisher this is; Exsanguinate and Debt to the Deathless are both very strong but lack the versatility of this card.
