Very good card for getting a card that you want out of the reach of any cards that you oppent has that says "seach target players deck" and so on.

way back at the odyssey prerelease I traded heavily for this card, understanding its abusive behavior. Then, shortly later it was banned.

This card is truely evil.
First turn play a Swamp and play Dark Ritual then play Entomb and throw Iona, Shield of Emeria into the graveyard and pull her out with the remaining 2 black mana with Exhume. Also to add insult to injury, throw down a Painter's Servant on turn 2 and it's an auto lockdown for a win.

This def. one of the most potent cards ever printed. So many times in turn one i've played akroma's and turn two trio's of demgod's. Def. the main staple of reanimate decks !!

Honestly, it is grossly abused and should be promptly banned again. There is nothing fun, interesting, or unique about this card. Entomb requires one very simple hoop to jump through to be turned into a game one victory, and that makes me sad.

This card would be amazing even at sorcery speed. One black mana to tutor ANY card and drop it directly into my graveyard? Yes, please!
But wait, there's more! You can do all of that, still for one black mana, at instant speed! You read that right! Instant speed tutor for 1 black mana. Did I mention there are NO drawbacks to this card?
I love graveyard strategies, especially reanimator decks. This card allows for some amazing and outrageous turn 1 plays. Ritual + Entomb + Exhume has been mentioned already, and it is a wonderful combo. I also enjoy Ritual + Thoughtseize + Entomb + Reanimate. Sure, you're down a lot of life. But you have a bombastic creature and you perhaps stole a wincon from the opp. That's an A+ turn 1 if I ever saw one!
Anyone who rates this card less than a 5 really has no idea of what this card is capable.

I LOVE Reanimator decks, and yes I've put a lot of money into mine, but $30.00 for a single card that you'd obviously want to play four of, is nothing short of ridiculous.
Although I've got my fingers crossed for a reprint, Buried Alive is a much more fair deal, and a playset of them won't 'entomb' you financially.

@agentvirgo: This would work with the Isochron Scepter, yes, but Exhume would not. It is a sorcery and the Scepter only works on instants.

Put one of these on Isochron Scepter. Then use it and Exhume your Sheoldred, Whispering One. Tap the Sceptor at the end of your opponents turn and you can play any creature in your library.

One night...the WOTC design team got together for a night of drinking and brainstorming for new cards. Unfortunately, there was more drinking than designing.
But at the end of the night...when everybody was plastered out of their minds...the conversation went something like this.
WOTC Designer 1: Hey, why don't we make a card where somebody can go into their deck and pull out any card they want and just toss it in the graveyard?
WOTC Designer 2: Why would we want to do that?
WOTC Designer 1: Just to *** people off.
WOTC Designer 3: What color? And what would be the casting cost?
WOTC Designer 1: Black. And what the ****...let's make it a casting cost of 1 and an instant to boot.
WOTC Designer 4: (burp) Sounds ****ing great to me. Hell...let's do it.
And that's how this broken to hell card came to be.

A handy card. If you accidentally put a Wood Elemental in your deck, you can make sure you don't draw it.
Better than Rats of Rath and Despotic Scepter because that way you don't have to pay the elemental's casting cost.

The graveyard is the safest place to store treasure? I suppose. It's not like there are 300 different ways for your opponent to get rid of your ill-gotten treasure once it hit the graveyard, right?
Disentomb was made for this card shame though Embtome hasn't been reprinted :-(

Hello Entomb- say hello to your new friend Grim Lavamancer. What do you two have in common? Oh, nothing, you're just old 1-drop rare icons-of-your-color cards that happen to come in FOIL, IN A PRECON DECK, NEXT TO 59 OTHER FOIL CARDS, all for less than what you cost on the secondary market ^^ (The Premium Decks Grim Lavamancer's artwork used to only be obtainable as a Judge Foil)
PREMIUM DECKS SERIES GRAVEBORN! CONFIRMED! Also Animate Dead in new art. Surprisingly, Avatar of Woe is the least exciting of the recently spoiled cards from the the box image
It's being reprinted in Premium Deck Series: Graveborn! Everyone leap for joy about how much the price should go down!

To buy a playset of these bad boys for 120 bucks, or to buy a foil playset of these bad boys and 236 other foil cards for 120 bucks? That is the question.

The first time I saw this card, when I was young, I was like "Why the hell I would send a card in the graveyard. It's a bad card!"
Now, I see that is a must have for any reanimation deck. You may send whatever you want in your graveyard for 1 mana. You don't have to wait to discard it.

Why yes, I would like to put Jin-Gitaxias or Griselbrand into my graveyard for one many at the end of your turn.
I knew it was powerful, but couldn't justify the price until I ran it prox in my deck; now I want 4 of them. It may be broken, but I love it. I do kind of wish it was restricted so I wasn't tempted to buy said playset. Oh well, one of the only cards I'll willingly get in foil because of how much cheaper it is. 5/5*

It's basically a one mana tutor for flashback cards, or an insta-dump for your Bridge from Below. Although it is true that this can put other cards in your graveyard, I don't think I've ever seen anyone use it for anything but creatures.

Guys Entomb is coming down in price, almost definitely because of the Graveborn reprint. Don't be fooled! Get your playset while you can and hang on to them tight. Get 5 so you can run it in EDH. This is probably one of the cards that singularly defines what it is to play black. Entomb + Exhume all day, every day!
