One of my absolute favorite artworks.
Her cloak is like a frozen wave of chalcedony!!
She's decently costed as well, though of course really bad if your opponent is not playing black.

Very good card. Obviously its not optimal to just throw it in any deck, but this card is quite powerful when playing Rainbow Magic, or when you splash blue and can change the "black" to a color of your choice, or when you include this in your sideboard.
Also, I always found it quite bewildering how the card text says "destroy target black spell" but this card's opposite, Stromgald Cabal, from the same set, says to "counter target white spell." Somebody in the proof-reading department at Wizards was apparently sleeping when these cards went to print.

Play Swirl the Mists and you can counter spells of a color of your choice.
Also Painter's Servant (choosing {B}) will let you counter anything.
