I don't really see the point of this. Sure, if you can keep reanimating this thing somehow, or need to trigger gravepact or whatever. Or block and sec it before damage is dealt. But still: a 0/1 dork on turn one that might be burninated before you have the mana to sac it? No thanks.

Pros like me know the value of this scout. You can block an attacker with it, then sac it and have a nasty centaur token ready to attack next turn. Being an elf is also a plus and tokens are more valuable these days then they used to be.

Chump blocks and gives you a centaur if you have the mana open. Okay I guess.
The flavor's nice though - she just gets trampled by the centaur she called. Oh, the dangers of summoning.

If it had cost 1G for the token then we might have something. As is, paying 2GG for a 3/3 just isn't going to cut it--even if it can be populated.

the point is that this is basically a token card that continues to exist in the graveyard, providing a bodycount for cards that deal with the graveyard or else is otherwise capable of being recycled to the library or to the battlefield to provide constant tokens that are, technically, the same price as just about any Populate ability (which averages about 4cc overall). it could have been better as a (W)(G) to put the token into play, perhaps, but then it would have limited the card in EDH.

The effectively free blocker is nice for {G}, and the token is decent for how early you can get it out, which is good if you need to populate early. Still, I think you're better off with other one drops most of the time. (Doomed Traveler in {G}/{W}, for instance, yields a similar result but with more power and less mana required)

It annoys me that all these Ridiculously obvious guild cards are considered unguilded. The flavor, the ability, the art and the color are all Selesynya. But no, it's just green. Just green. You can still use it in a golgari deck (and if the creatures in your graveyard matter to you that's just fine) But there's nothing that says you cant put Centaur's Herald into your deck anyway, regardless of how non golgari it is even with the selesynya guildmark.

You are now aware that this card's art looks remarkably like the pose on the cover of This Is It (The Michael Jackson Movie). You will never be able to unsee this. You're welcome. (If you don't see it, google 'This Is It' and look at the art side by side.

This is actually fun in limited because this is an early way to get a decent creature token to populate. Otherwise the cheapest card I know that creates tokens is eyes in the sky (the guildmage doesnt count because you need 6 mana to make the token).

I like this card. It's flavourful, and works well with creature recursion, especially Proclamation of Rebirth and, for an example in current standard, Back from the Brink. Ironically, I actually think this works better with Golgari than Selesnya, despite the flavour. I give it four stars!

I'm giving it 4 stars just because not only does this card work well with Selesnya (duh) but it works surprisingly well with Golgari. Think about it, when you pop this, it lets you have a creature in your grave, plus you get the 3/3 centaur.

I thought this card would be decent, early defense, potentially a 3/3 later. After playing with it though... 1.5/5
2gSacrifice a green creature named centaurs herald. Search your library for a card named centaur token and put it into play. THen shuffle your library.
Have you noticed all the centaurs in this set are 3/3?

Gives Selesnya a token to Populate. Gives Simic a 3/3 cheap without using a card in hand for evolve triggers. Gives the Golgari a dead thing, or target for Scavenge. Gives Gruul an unassuming bloodrush target, as well as an instant 3/3 on the battlefield
