- costs 6 mana to activate - want's you to sac creatures
+ it's a land (not counterable) + repeatable direct damage to creatures or players is always great + it's damage from a land source. it's colorless, gets around protection and many other things
In short, I was nearly always happy when I had this in play, since it just gave me the option to kill something if I really need to. Once I had it in play with Rings of Brighthearth and Kjeldoran Autpost in an EDH deck. Sure, that requires a ton of mana, but it was in a very late game situation, and beeing there able to play two shocks each turn was very strong.

Eh, colorless mana and Shock damage aren't all that great, still it could be useful in the correct situation.

No reason not to include one of these in a mono-Red deck; you never know when it will come in handy.

I got two of these in a sealed pack Invasion pre-release tournament. They didn't do me any favors.

Way better than it is given credit. Late in the game when you have some useless creatures sitting around you could get in the last few damage with this. Its colorless damage from a land, hard to counter or prevent. Gets better if you can create creature tokens.

Whoever is put off by the cost to activate the 2nd ability needs to know:
- This is LAND damage, bypasses most protection - Instant, can be used with tokens - Can be used to finish off opponents during the late game when you are not able to put more creatures through or ran out of direct damage spells
3/5 for some playability

i do´t like it
- its ability is 6 mana, burn decks win before you get that much mana - its much worse than Shivan Gorge - its only ability costs RED mana while it name reads keldon NECROPOLIS
+/- you must sac something for the ability which is basicly bad but can be usefull
+ it is a colorless scource of damage

The amazing epicness of this card multiplies by like a 1000 once you actually read the book it's from- Bloodlines.
Sure, it's crap to play with, but it really has a Great Story :)
THIS! IS! KELDON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle is probably the number one reason we'll not see much exploration into lands that generate burn damage anytime soon.

The original shock land.

This isn't so bad in a two color or less edh. It fulfills a similar purpose to Miren, the Moaning Well, in that it provides a response to those who would try to destroy or Control Magic your creatures, while giving you a bonus Shock.

Why not include one into a burn deck? One real reason is the risk that you will be unable to cast ball lightning.

Saying this is worse than Shivan Gorge is plain silly. One damage to a player versus two damage to any target is HUGE. However, this card is not for a red aggro deck. Use Barbarian Ring. It is for a control deck, especially one that runs Blood Moon.

A card which bears the name "Necropolis" yet has no black but red in it feels weird to me. Seems more like a "Sangropolis" :P
