That definitely explains his low opinion of Zendikari vampires.

It's an Aura that isn't recurable, doesn't do anything when it enters the battlefield, nor is a decent threat when it hits the battlefield. This could see play in Limited but only if you drafted a lot of creatures--but won't see place elsewhere. And it really shouldn't either.

Want to see how this is supposed to function? Vampiric Embrace, and that card isn't even that good.

It seems like the flavor text would have made more sense on a card that reduced the toughness instead of increasing it. How could you get consumed by a condition that increases both your power and toughness? Reading SkyknightXi's comment makes me think that i misunderstood something here, though. I don't know much about Sorin's story or MtG vampire lore, so he might be talking about losing sanity/personality after turning into one...

this and my tormented soul + exalted stuff helped me win the pre-release. it takes some time to set up, but you quickly get back your life lost during the first 3 turns.

@Mode: Sorin sees Zendikar vampires as gluttons (see Feast of Blood) who are too motivated by hunger. To be fair, he seems to also have a pretty low opinion of Innistrad vampires (Bloodflow Connoisseur), so maybe he's just kind of anti-vampire all around, despite being one himself.

It was good to me during the prerelease. Slapped it on a Duskdale Wurm, swung, and then played Fungal Sprouting during main phase 2. Decent in limited, pretty bad elsewhere.

Will this be in any constructed format? Of course not. Not unless it was constructed by an 8 year old. That's not what the card was designed for. The fact of the matter is, this is a bomb in limited. Slap it on a Bloodunter Bat and see if that game doesn't end quickly. Throw in some exalted and your opponent will probably concede. I don't wanna be on the other side of this when I'm drafting. It's pretty much a "most answer me" card if you have it on anything over 2 starting power.

I am a pro and would consider playing this on most of my creatures. It is that good.

if it were 1BB, with the same ability, would be standard playable?

Tormented Soul may as well have been a vampire spirit considering how many times I've seen this onto it in limited.

Hammerfist Giant could find a boatload of use from this, Aside fom that, though. I dunno If I'd use it.

And yet, strangely enough, it doesn't actually turn the enchanted creature into a vampire...

I've played this in standard and it can and will tip the scale of games. It's honestly not that hard to get out, and the gains make it all the worth while. Throw it on a Desecration Demon and I guarantee you that you'll win some games.

I saw this get cast on a Wolfir Avenger in the finals of a Grand Prix. It was the best tournament I have ever seen.
