PLAGUE RATS!!! You came back! After all this time! I knew you'd never forget! But... you look... different.
Oh no.
Plague Rats, what did you do? WHAT DID YOU DO????????

This is actually one of the best attempts on the standard green bear. Some others are Wild Mongrel, Ashcoat Bear, Carapace Forger or even something like Darkthicket Wolf. How much difference it makes to just give it an ability.

It's not often that I'll rate a card solely on its performance in Limited. However, with this card, Limited might actually see it being snatched up more quickly in the hopes of getting multiples. Sure, it is pretty mediocre in Standard, but the things that I can dream up in Limited make me almost as excited as when I drafted Coldsnap and tried to get all the Aurochs!

I think i'll try these in a gimmick deck with Myr Servitor. (Just don't remind me that Guyfs will be generally better most of the time.)
@MisterAction: Plague Rats already came back a long time ago along with the aforementioned Myr in Fifth Dawn, and they were as relentless as ever :D

If powercreep ever renders this obsolete, it will be replaced with Welentless Wolves.
I'm trying to build a green/blue deck based around these cards at the moment.
It its very worse, it is a 2/2 for 2 mana, which is something I am always happy to play in draft. At its best, it is 4 6/6 greens for 2 mana. When I got 4 of them onto the field, then played Clone, the other guy just gave up :P
4/5 for me. It would be a 5/5 and probably OP if it searched itself when it entered.

This guy is great on his own but if you can draw multiple copies of him, he becomes phenomenal.

Good riddance, Runeclaw Bear! It's great to see a more interesting design fill the 2/2 for 1G slot in the core set. This is flavorful without being overpowered for a common. Nicely done.

@Boakes2047 I'm assuming you mean for Fungal Sprouting to put in a bunch of Saprolings that turn into Timberpacks? Unfortunately, it won't work, since Infinite Reflections says nontoken creatures.
But Infinite Timberpack will always be a great idea, especially with the 1-3 drops you can stuff the deck with.
It's unfortunate that Scars is rotating so soon, though... Quicksilver Gargantuan would have been an amazing addition to that deck!
