So what you're saying is not only would a wolf take down a bear, it would quite often kick its arse.
Riiiiiight.

i appreciate that this is definitely 'strictly' better than the 1G bears that have now even outclassed the 2G bears. however, as far as 1G 2/2 creatures go, even this feels weak to me. perhaps the powercreep is getting to me but i think there are better 1G bears out there than this.

great limited card. generates a bunch of damage in early turns while stockpiling land for fatties.

Honestly, I think I am letting my Bais get the better of me with all these new wolf cards and all these new werewolf cards, but I honestly see this a 'viable' play with Werewolf cards. The Ability is "Turn +1" giving it more power then a turn 2 (though, I have to admit, it could be a bit better). Please remember people the Focus on a Werewolf deck is to STOP yourselves from using spell's and use abilities like this card.
Strengths: 2/2 for is alright making it on par with most other creatures of that CMC already. " means that it can power itself up to 4/4 turn 3 AND get a Werewolf creature it's Transformation at the end of the turn, without sitting there and wasting a turn completely. Wolf support is rather poor outside of Tokens, so that doesn't give it much of a bonus.
Weakness: 2/2 for is rather pricey for a "vanilla" card until you can boost it up to 4/4 and even then, it's uses are limited. It has none of the Werewolf type other then Howlpack Alpha so don't expect your Full Moon's Rise to save it for you if you see a field sweeper. I can see what they were trying to do, but they did it rather poorly with this card, leaving much to be desired from it's Werewolf cousins.
Summary: Good card if you need something to fill your deck, but there are other, better cards. If you have a non-transformed werewolf, and you have this out with 3 mana, depending on the situation, it would be better to give it +2/+2 and transform your Werewolf at the next players upkeep.

When they reprinted Shock I thought they were setting the stage for a Wild Mongrel reprint. Instead, we got this. He's almost insane in limited, but he compares infavorably to Beastbreaker of Bala Ged if you think about it.
