Since it doesn't come into play tapped, it could be beneficial with say Riftstone Portal. At least, it's another option. Not a bad cycling land all the same. Also, indebted to Fluctuator.
It produces mana. Ok most lands do that. It doesn't come tapped. Ok a lot of lands don't do that. You can discard it & get another card. Most lands don't do that. Have you ever gazed across the battlefield before your upkeep & immediately prayed that you don't pull another stinkin land!? I have. And it was mainly because I sucked at deck building. Now I don't but still, decent enough card. 3.5 because, it'll get ya there.

These lands and the onslaught cycle of lands that cycle give you versatility. Early you can play it as a land and later on when you have more mana you can cycle it and get the spell you need. 3.5/5
