He's like Chameleon Colossus' less-whimsical cousin.

I totally underestimated this thing, with 8 open mana if left unblocked it will hit you for 12, more if they have any other power/toughness increases on it. I was hit for 16 at the pre-release.......

Needs Oak, Willow and Maple spirits to keep the tree cycle complete

High on activation costs, but can be good if you can get equipment or other power boosts on it first

Put it in with Training Grounds. You get double the effect for the same mana.

The spirit of Yew, because they couldn't name it Yew Two.

@Paladin85: Or Elm, Spruce, Pine, Birch, Cherry, Dogwood, Cedar, Hickory, Walnut, or Ash. And if anybody says Bamboo, they're getting smacked.

I dub him Taxus.

I don't know why this is rated so low. Pair it with wolfir silverheart for example and on the nest turn it's attack goes to 14 for 4 mana. When you get to 8 mana you can attack for 28, this is a really good card.

This card can be hilariously powerful, under the right circumstances. Any boost it has makes its doubling ability so desirable. 4 mana for a double boost when it might have 4/4 or 5/5 makes me laugh. Throw on a Spectal Flight or have Drogskol Captain out and Soulbond a Wingcrafter and swing for flying.

Right support is always key, even with it's high cost.

i love the FAQ rulings on this card:

•If Yew Spirit has power less than 0, the "bonus" will be negative. For example, if it's somehow become -10/3, it would get -10/-10 and become -20/-7

This thing gets absolutely disgusting(and by disgusting, i mean dangerously powerful) in my ramp deck..it can easily become several times bigger than my Apocalypse Hydra until the end of turn, which might be the only turn it really needs. Love it.

This effect needs to show up more often. A fine, respectable creature for all the people who don't have Chameleon Colossus or want to be able to use its ability in AVR draft.

This card is well-designed. 0/5 thumbs down dislike unsubscribe

lol I just accidently read "jew-spirit" and kind of thought "wtf Magic, no more good ideas for names?" XD

The card itself is quite useful, ah changeling collosus with type-restriction

Less powerful Chameleon Colossus.

this would be impressive... if Chameleon Colossus would not exist

So.... This thing has a sort of berserk minus the trample that might be more espensive, But repeatable, does Toughness too, and built in to it ? Sign me up!

The fact that he costs five and activates for four means that when he swings you'll likely have a mana open... before combat damage is assigned just pump him and tack on a giant growth. 12/12 for five mana is nothing to sneeze at... heck, if you have an extra two mana you could always make it Unchecked Growth and find yourself sitting on a 14/14 trampler.

Regarding the creature type order, I'm surprised Treefolk goes after Spirit.
I think this is the only race I've seen so far that doesn't use the formula "Spirit (Race)"
