In my opinion, this is the worst card in the set. I mean, I would rather play a Mind Rot on turn 3 so that they will actually discard something that might actually matter. This comes down a turn later, as a 1/1 with conditional evasion, when you could be playing something like Bloodline Keeper

This isn't delicious jello. This is the weevil! And we do as the weevil asks!
Sure, it's overcosted for a Mind Rot, but would you rather be unable to get full value out of your Somberwald Spiders? Perhaps this guy is, shall we say, the lesser of two weevils.

It gives fuel for your scaabs too, which is worth 1 extra mana over mind rot in limited. And in worst case scenario even severely overcosted 1/1 with evasion is still better than nothing. IMO, it's far from worst card of the set, Innistrad got Gruesome Deformity and Maw of the Mire in same color.

Mind Rot on legs. Seems decent for limited. You can get in for a point or two of damage before using him, and his sacrifice ability makes him a good chump blocker versus tramplers.

The slow down from mind rot probably does not matter in limited (only place you will use this).

Good for enabling Morbid mechanics for no mana cost.

Enables morbid, feeds your blue zombies, can enable discard at a time when your opponents don't have too much choice.
That, and it's a 1/1 with evasion, if your opponent isn't playing black or artifact creatures. At least it isn't completely useless if you draw it after your opponent is out of cards.

this was scary - I expected it to be crap, but when it came down and made me discard I was rather hurt. But, I think the 'secret' is to think more about yourself - either to self-mill or to trigger Morbid. This has a LOT of options for just one card, which makes me evaluate it much higher than I did initially (I cut it quickly from my sealed, and now that I think about it, it would have been awesome in my deck!)

It definately blows. First, a 1/1 for four mana is outright horrible. If your opponent got a black or artifact creature, this guy is downright useless. And if he doesn't, you got a mind rot, that costs four mana instead of three, and gives your opponent time to adapt. I'd play Mindstab Thrull over this any day. It costs less, got twice the power and toughness, got a supported creature type and discards three cards instead of two. Sure, it doesn't have intimidate, but black is great in removing potential blockers. Or Diabolic Or even Abyssal Specter, which everyone knows is just a mediocre card. It costs the same amount of mana, is 2/3 instead of 1/1, got flying, and doesn't need to be sacced to cause discard.

It's got eight legs... WTF?!? I won't play any insect that hasn't got the right number of legs.

I'd suggest Mimic Vat with our friend here, to set off multiple morbid triggers and a turn-by-turn storm of colourless Mind Rots :D

I actually don't think is the worst. Apparently one of the big challenges in Limited with this set is getting Morkrut Banshee to turn the hell on, and t4 this guy t5 Banshee is certainly a way to go about winning some games. Also pretty great with any other Morbid cards, but if you're going to go big you may as well go Banshee.

i find weevils a good choice as insects sucking a brain... even if they only have mouth parts for chewing... well, perhaps one with 8 legs could have them for sucking, too. ^^

@Superllama12 It is a pretty bad card , in the sense that it tries to do many things (evasion, morbid, discard) and ends up with an unreasonably high cost, but that's because it's a common card. In that light, it's quite unfair to compare it to Bloodline Keeper.

Underpowered for the casting cost, but still not completely awful in Limited.

A 1/1 intimidate...can be easily Gut Shotted, can be easily Marrow Sharded...at least it's better than the Dementia Bat or Chimney Imp.

Oh woe is me! Living in a world where no one considers the Multiplayer possibilities! This card is great for multiplayer as a rattlesnake card, driving attackers elsewhere for fear of having to discard their hand, and let me tell you, alot of players hate having to part with their hand, and this thing is just too small to throw removal at, a benefit to being a seemingly weak creature.
4/5! It's the weevil that can save your life in the political world of multiplayer, make your opponent throw away their cards, and maybe get in for a point of damage or two when it really counts.
It does a bunch of different things that would benefit a very specific type of self-discard reanimator type deck; that deck will obviously have better ways to accomplish those things, but maybe not all at once on the same card. Even so, every time I try to put it in a deck I see that 4 cost and 1/1 body and sorcery-speed ability and have to pass, regardless of how awesome it looks.
People pay for sorcery speed discard at 4 mana like purge the profane. Obviously something like mind rot is better at 3, but hey with a tormented soul tacked on what do you expect. I like it.
It's a fair morbid trigger chump-block with interesting possibilities. I'd play it over mind rot.
people who are hating on this are thinking of it as a creature and noone likes paying 4 for a 1/1. Instead, think of it as a spell with an extra creature. A creature you can use as leverage in multiplayer. Oh how I love cards like seal of doom where my opponents are discouraged from attacking me.
