I came on here specifically to complain about the lack of Pentivite tokens in the Duels decks...wtf?? A soldier token in the Arty deck??! Really?! I couldnt believe it so i bought a second and why lookee here a soldier token in Tezz's deck?? Sad just, sad, I mean you made Minion and wasp tokens....
And now you see that both the tokens and mana ended up 1 more than before, while Pentavus stayed the same. So, in essence, Pentavus is an Infinite/Infinite, you have Infinite 1/1 tokens, and you have Infinite colorless mana. I should ALSO mention, those tokens hit the graveyard and trigger any creature goes to the graveyard or creature enters battlefield effect. And his Infinite/Infinite strength is due to +1/+1 counters.

i think this card is good in a sunburst deck.because u can tranpsort +1/+1 counters from cre creatures with sunburst to pentavus and make pentavites or transport +1/+1 from pentavus to other creatures or artifact cards.(it would be good with that card that gives +2/+2 to artifacts..)

@lightningrod14 Actually that would not work. A token is not a "card" as it specifies on Shirei.

No Pentavite tokens with our Tezzeret deck, WotC? For shame!
Edit: Pentavus got reprinted in Magic 2012, so we finally get our Pentavite tokens.

the art is exactly perfect for what it does. great job visualizing how it would actually play out on the battlefield.

@equinox: The tokens aren't cards, but Pentavus is. And what power is he when he dies?

Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker.
Oh yes. Yes indeed. or lifeline, for those of y'all who want to kick it old school.
2: Each opponent sacrifices a creature.
Ashnod's Altar + Doubling Season + This. Let me show you.
Pentavus: 5 counters Tokens: 0 Mana: 1
Pentavus -1(ability) +1(+1 from DS) -1(ability cost)
Pentavus: 4 counters Tokens: 2 Mana: 0
Ashnod's Altar -1(sacrifice cost) +2
Pentavus: 4 counters Tokens: 1 Mana: 2
Pentavus +1(+1 from DS) -1(ability) -1(ability cost)
Pentavus: 6 counters Tokens: 0 Mana: 1
Back where we started, but we have an extra counter. Assuming we follow that loop infinitely, it becomes
Pentavus: Infinite Tokens: 0 Mana: 1
Pentavus -1 +1(+1 from DS) -1
Pentavus: Infinite -1 Tokens: 2 Mana: 0
Ashnod's Altar -2 +4
Pentavus: Infinite -1 Tokens: 0 Mana: 4
Pentavus -1 +1(+1 from DS) -1
Pentavus: Infinite -2 Tokens: 2 Mana: 3
Pentavus +1(+1 from DS) -1 -1
Pentavus: Infinite Tokens: 1 Mana: 2
And now you see that both the tokens and mana ended up 1 more than before, while Pentavus stayed the same.
