MaRo said people who like this card will like Dark Ascension. What could he mean by that? More evil humans/ Or is this some sort of keyword or theme?

I first saw this art by itself. "Not so bad,"I thought. "They're just watching me sleep." Then I saw the rest of the card. Scariest card in Innistrad.

from what I think was said already about Dark Ascension:
the humans push back the monsters of the plane, but by doing so they become even worse somehow? I dont know what that entails though.

When Humans... turn bad.

Not to be confused with Village People.
This might be my favorite art in the set. Really gives me the creeps.

That would be my guess too. The worst monsters of Innistrad? Not the vampires, not the werewolves, but the humans. Like the Futurama bit. "It turns out it's man."
Either way, I love the flavour of this card. It would have been very easy to make some silly artwork showing humans actually eating other humans, but Bud Cook nailed it perfectly.

The use of perspective in the Innistrad card illustrations is transcendental. Imagine this same scene from any third person view. Not nearly as compelling.

A true shame that those guys aren't armed with forks and sporting bibs.
Could have been gold I tell you.

Just don't look at Cloistered Youth that way... you might regret it...
Am I wrong for thinking that cannibalism isn't all that bad? Sure, murder is almost indisputably evil, but eating a human corpse that was dead anyways? One just has to beware the neural network, as I've heard those radical proteins are pretty bad.
Oh, and I agree with everyone about the art. It's of a narrative quality one rarely sees on M:TG.

This set's answer to Phyrexian Unlife. Maybe this Vorthos will finally get a suitable play mat.

I keep getting told Claustrophobia has the scariest art in the set. It gets a little unsettling the more I look at it, but this one is by far the most creepy and disturbing. Just something about those peoples' faces...

Thank you Tiggurix. Reverence for dead flesh is an outmoded dark ages superstition that has no place today.
As for the card, that cute cannibal girl on the left can start eating me any time.

Eternal_Blue, there are humans all over Magic, not just in Innistrad. Innistrad is just the first set featuring them in a tribal component. This card will never be competitive Constructed playable even in block and will always be kitchen table Constructed playable in "classic".
Best art in the set, of course.

I hope they make an Innistrad card art book.

It's "another creature of either side of the human, so shouldn't it be more than vaguely circulated within the human tribal deck? It's the reverse side of Champion of the Parish.

It's just like that H.P. Lovecraft story.
Just remember to avoid the quant little town of Innsmouth. Oh, and remember to lock the hotel room door.

I find the flavor here kinda weird. The perspective in the art is that of someone looking up at the cannibals, so they would presumably have to be alive. But the cannibals in the card only eat dead humans. So it's as if the cannibals suddenly go, "Oops, you're not actually dead yet? So sorry, have a nice day!" and put away their knives and forks.

When I first saw this card I was like man this sucks and now it is one of my key cards in my black/white humans deck. My friends have learned never to let one stay on the field long because this card can get real big real fast.

With a nonchalant wave, the maiden simply said, "Oh, our village has a good solution on zombies - we eat the fallen before they have a chance to rise...why are you looking at me like that?"
