I'm sure people will continue to demonize this cycle for a long time. They're hella weak and they horn in on valuable uncommon slots.

Why are these still here?

I'm sooooo going to get flamed for this, but...

...this cycle isn't that bad...especially with the introduction of metalcraft and phyrexian mana. If only they didn't waste uncommon slots on them.

These cards aren't that bad. They are cheap, they go towards metalcraft, once you get them out, you don't have to actively do anything with them, and if you get multiple out, you can actually get some decent life gain. Nourish is 6 life for 2 green. In a proper deck, this can net you way more life for 2 colorless.

I can see it being kinda nice for a sidedeck, at least.

idk about the other colors, but getting heals in a mono black deck has been useful for me. This has found a home in my zombie/pestilence deck :) but i dont see why these get re-printed? people would prefer more useful uncommons.

when will they stop reprinting this crap cycle and use those five uncommon Artifact slots on something worthwhile??

I think Wizards has said something along the lines of their reason for reprinting these is to trick newer players into playing something awful so they can learn later that lifegain isn't very valuable.

That doesn't really sound like a recipe for a crowd-pleaser to say the least.

One time a player got 4 Angel's Feathers out, and started gaining 4 life on top of their stupid Angel of Mercys and Venerable Monks. I simply milled the player to death. It happened to be a Duels of the Planeswalkers match, me playing Jace vs Elspeth. In order to win by milling, I had to exile the copy of Purity hiding in the player's deck, so I had to wait until he casted it to Counterbore it.

One time, I was about to start a game of EDH when I realized every body had at least some black in their deck, with a few even playing mono. So I threw it in. And, despite being rated a 1.6 star card here, it gained me over 40 life for two mana by the time it was removed. But it is bad in 1v1, so I guess I'll give it a 2/5. And if it was a common, you guys would be ranting about how you pulled five of this junk cycle at the prerelease. It may be uncommon to stop that from happening, like with Akoum Boulderfoot and razor boomerang.

FACT: Everyone dislikes this card, hates seeing the cycle, and is fed up overall

FACT: Wizards reads these comments, looks at ratings, and play test their cards.

FACT: Wizards makes bad and unplayable cards on purpose to get more money.

FACT: You people still feed them money, even though you are completely aware of what is going on.

Cards like this will never stop being made, stop blowing your money on this game if you dont like it.

I personally don't consider this card as bad as the other 2-drop lifegain artifacts. Black is a color that makes use of trading life for advantages like Bloodgift Demon and Griselbrand. Sure, it's still not really worth a slot in someone's library, but still serves a better purpose than Angel's Feather, Kraken's Eye, Wurm's Tooth, and Dragon's Claw.

Threw it in a Demon deck just for the theme, and because the deck was mono-black anyways.

Kept me going for quite a while before I pulled the win. They're hardly as awful as people make them out to be.

This card is actually EXTREMELY useful. I make sure to have at least 1 in all my decks.
I gain a TON of life off of these, especially when theres more than one of the respective color being played.
5/5.

Guys, every card has a home. One copy of this found its way into my Phylactery Lich deck. Why? Turn 2 this turn 3 Lich start gaining life. There's more, I'm already running sign in blood to draw my combos, now it reads draw 2 lose 1. It's still a subpar card but know it has a home if you try hard enough.
