Artwork is Strictly worse than Wayne Reynolds's Armadillo Cloak artwork from Phyrexia vs. the Coalition.

Perhaps, but still as awesome as ever.

Why doesn't this say Lifelink? Isn't it the same thing?

My personal favorite Aura card, and yeah Rancor is number 2 but I love lifelink abilities. I remember throwing this on a Rith at the Invasion prerelease, man I was happy that day!

@ Irixio
It's not the same thing. This is a triggered ability, lifelink is static. Because of that, multiple of these stack on top of each other, or a lifelink. Lifelink can't stack on itself.

You could also attach it to your opponent's creature and gain life for the damage that it does. If it said lifelink, that wouldn't be an option.

Do you gain life for the damage that gets through to the defending player by trample? or all the damage the creature deals even if blocked?

The lifegain on this card works exactly the same as Lifelink would. Any time the creature deals damage (combat, noncombat, deathtouch, trample, double-strike, etc), you gain that much life. The difference is that Lifelink goes to the creature's controller, not you. This one still goes to you. You can use it to negate a powerful creatures' damage, put it on an ally's creature to gain you life for it attacking, or put it on a creature with Lifelink. As previously mentioned, this ability stacks with Lifelink, though lifelink does not stack with itself.

You said the word that makes this different from lifelink, but you didn't say it in the correct context.
Stack.
That ability uses it, unlike lifelink. Thus you can still die from combat damage before that ability resolves. (In comparison to if you would have survived if it was lifelink instead)

I still prefer this version though, because, as you said, this stacks with not only life link, but other instances of itself.

I strongly disagree, this is the original artwork... and not only that, it fits the flavor much better than the art you speak of. Alas on this print of the card, the flavor is still absent with the lack of the flavor text, "Don't laugh. It works."

This card works really well with the Eldrazi cards. Nothing like whipping out an 8/8 for 8 and then slapping this on it. Trample, life gain, and annihilator! awesome combination.

@fhemo: Do you gain life for the damage that gets through to the defending player by trample? or all the damage the creature deals even if blocked?

Yes and yes, you would gain life in both cases. Trample damage is still dealt by the enchanted creature, not the ability itself, meaning that you would gain life from any damage that "tramples on" to your opponent, and if the enchanted creature is blocked by something that has enough toughness to survive combat, you would still gain life equal to the enchanted creature's power (unless part of or all of the damage was prevented).
In addition, should your creature become blocked with no creature to block it (i.e. Curtain of Light), or the blocker somehow leaves combat (i.e. Unsummon or similar), all of the damage would just "trample on" to your opponent, dealing full damage to them and gaining you the full amount of life. (Note however that damage only continues "tramples on" to your opponent this way if your creature has trample. If you Curtain of Light a creature without trample, it deals no damage to the defending player)

The ultimate enchantment for pauper and paesant decks and perhaps one of the few enchant creatures (Auras) that have actually seen play...

A very powerful enchantment. Every G/W deck that deals in auras should think of this as their flagship (well, this and Shield of the Oversoul.)

This can really carry the whole game for you. over a knight of meadowgrain it's terrific, cause this doesn't give lifelink, so you win double life. plus the 4/4 first strike trampler attacking on turn 3. IT ROCKS HARD

and for all the "competitive" saying it's very weak against removal, I'll quote the good old flavor text:

"Don't laugh. It works."

I thought this card was awesome.

Then I realized you could attach it to an opponent's creature to gain as much life as it takes from you.

Then this card became more than awesome.

Surprisingly effective in multiplayer. If there are 3 players, and you put this on your opponents 8/8 beater, he's probably not going to be attacking you 'cause it wouldn't do anything.

Please reprint for Selesnya in Dragon's Maze. The only thing my Chalice deck needs.

This + Shield of the Oversoul on something of the appropriate colors for a very scary creature.

Amazing for casual. Casual doesnt pack that much removal. I doubt it's constructed-worthy though just because you'll get 2 for 1ed a lot.

This card is so Selesnya, that I wonder why never get a reprint in neither of the Ravnica blocks.

★★★★★ (5.0/5.0) (1 vote)
@PlanesMoyza, richardshort: It's getting a Ravnica reprint. Well, almost a reprint. The not-quite-lifelink ability has been replaced with lifelink, but aside from that Unflinching Courage is a functional reprint.

Also, can be used as a form of soft removal on an opponents attacker.

Alright, I know that multiple instances of lifelink are redundant. And I know this paired with lifelink gives you life gain equal to double the damage dealt. But are multiple instances of "whenever this creature deals damage, you gain that much life" redundant?
Rog4Brd3
☆☆☆☆☆ (0.0/5.0)
@wooded_taint: No, they're not. Only static abilities like lifelink are redundant. This is a triggered ability, like extort and exalted. Multiple instances of a triggered ability all go on the stack separately.

I like how you can apply this to an enemy's creature to just ignore damage from them (assuming a single incidence of damage doesn't exceed your current life total).
