I really like the "enters tapped" drawback. It's usually good for +1/+1, and the effects are temporary. As long as blue creatures stink, cards like this will always be playable.
On a side note: we say that no one ever blocks, but playing a card like this really makes you realize exactly how often you expect summoning sick creatures to supply some D.

"Enters the battliefield tapped" is actually a lot more prohibitive than it seems at first. Despite the fact that most creatures can't attack on the first turn, this prevents haste entirely, and keeps you from blocking, with what would honestly make a nice blocker on turn 4.

Sentinels seem to take the "Drake" roll of Artifacts of being the "Not-worth-the-cost" creature. (Mostly and entirely referring to Bladed Sentinel. Sorry, I fail History assignments for not having enough sources).
However, unlike my pathetic friend, This is a Golem, and can still be used with the Splicers. It also could be used as a general card for any deck, considering it's artifact-ness, but why does it have a negative effect?
This leads me to believe the Magic world is really messed up. Sure, it's rusted, fine. However, these artisans and creators of these machines are pretty inefficient, since it seems like they can't make something without it partially backfiring, and here comes Rune-Scarred Demon, flaunting his awesomeness of just about being a 6/6 flyer for 5 CMC with Demonic Tutor attached. I thought Demon's were supposed to have negative effects, while machines are perfect! Things like this put Lord of the Pit to shame.
Well, screw you technology. When you're not making an old operating system obsolete, you're giving us 10000000 updates each day. If you'll all excuse me, I'm now going to sell my soul.

Tell me why this card is an uncommon... I'll wait an answer curiously

You threw Ornithopter out of the core set for this?

My only guess as to why this is uncommon is so you won't get a lot of them. Palakka Wurm smashes so much more face its not even funny.

Doesn't look all that rusted to me. I think it's just lazy. Lazy Sentinel. Yep.

why the *** is this uncommon.

This is uncommon for two reasons. One, a 3/4 for four is a bit good for Blue. Two, artifacts are magical items. You don't go around finding a whole bunch of magically enchanted objects, except maybe on Mirrodin, since everything there's metal.

Pulling this as an uncommon is a terrible feeling when opening a pack, almost as bad as getting an Arbalest Elite. This thing is playable in limited, completely useless anywhere else. I'd have rather had Steel Golem back, which this is obviously meant to replace.

The flavor text is actually hilarious. Especially when you awake from a sound sleep at 12:30 at night, bored and start flipping through cards on here.. Could be worse cards. I think a lot of ppl low balled it for the wrong reasons. But, everyones entitled to a vote.. So.. whatever.

I was scanning this card really quickly and mixed up the rules text and flavor text and somehow I came up with the idea that the rules text said "Rusted Sentinel enters the battlefield with your face."

Needs to cost 3 or be 5/4.

Blue has at least two cards that are much better than this card: Conundrum Sphinx and Water Servant. I don't think blue even wanted this guy to begin with.

Ferlord, you can't count, can you? Rune Scarred Demon has a CMC of 7. That's , or 7 mana.
This has a CMC of 4, and can be played in any color of deck. 3/4 for is already really good for artifacts. Artifacts have always been and should always be less efficient than colored creatures, because they can be used with any color of mana. Imagine you had to choose between Rusted Sentinel and Rune Scarred Demon in a mono-red deck. Which would you choose?
That's what I thought. You'd pick the Sentinel, because in a mono-red deck, you can't actually USE the Demon. That's how Magic works. Ease of use effects power. Low mana cost creatures are weaker than higher mana cost creatures. Creatures with more colored mana symbols in their costs are stronger than creatures without. Artifact creatures have no colored mana symbols in their cost, to logic dictates that they will be less effective than creatures with colored mana symbols in their costs.
This guy is already better than Stone Giant in my book, and given the artifact support and, specifically, Golem support around, he could be a fairly low cost bruiser to add to a good golem deck. He's not a superstar, but bitching about him not being as good as a Rune Scarred Demon, and then getting your facts wrong? Come on, man.
Also, Darksteel Sentinel is a bombastic, if expensive, bruiser, Gargoyle Sentinel is an effective blocker for cheap, and the vast majority of sentinels aren't even artifacts.

@DoragonShinzui: Read Ferlord's comment just a little more carefully. Yes, Rune-Scarred Demon costs 7, but he said it was a 6/6 flyer for 5... with a Demonic Tutor attached. Demonic Tutor happens to cost 2, and what's 2+5?
