I just started playing a monogreen deck. At first, I scoffed at this card.
Scoffed, I say!
But after getting my butt whipped by Serra Angel I'm beginning to see its usefulness. I'm gonna toss a couple of these suckers in my deck. I've been sitting on a crapton of Forests way too often, anyway.

It's Gloomwidow's Feast except you're guaranteed a creature. It's hardly fair to compare these cards, but, Stingerfling gives you a bigger spider, kills a flyer, and all for one extra mana.

The first thing I thought of when I read this was, "Hey! It's the spider version of Acidic Slime!"
Just think about it. Both cost 5 mana. Both eat something when they enter the battlefield. The only difference is that this will be a great help to the newly rising spider tribal theme!
This is a great card. Blow up that 5/5 flyer, grab the block against another. A great fit if you're running Bant with Momentary Blinks & Venser.

Eh, while I like this card mechanically, a spider with a sting, especially a long-ranged one, feels quite jarring to my sensibilities, considering that no actual spiders I have ever heard about have a stinger. Consider that there's actually such a thing as a (semi)herbivorous spider, and you will get what I mean. Here's an article about such a spider, by the way: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/8302535.stm

I'm a huge Vorothos, AND a Biology teacher, and even I think you're thinking about this too hard buddy. It's magic, brah. A wizard did it.

This spider is great in EDH. If you have problems with a big flyer, just tutor him with green sun's zenith :)
